    give it time it will!

Get it on now. Those lizard skin ones aren't that thick, but better than nowt.

If you get annoyed with it, spot the rough ground and get in the biggest ring as mechs tend to have more tension the more they are pulled - but more modern ones appear to be more uniform through the stroke

Ermmm I think it is, ifr you are selling it in the original box, it says the weight on the side, and if it's give or take a kilo I'm sure they will be sympathetic ;)

Hmmm, rear derailleur has gone a bit skewy, constantly 3 cogs over and I cant sort it because I don't know how, means I get massive lactic acid when on the roads as I'm pedaling like a whippet, that's all really.

Fearnsy I have same bike as you, what make are your bars / where did you get them? They look pretty smart in white and I don't like the feel / shape of the standard bars.

Plus the lake in the picture looks very like one I walked past in the lake district near Ravenglass, although probably isn't as these little lakes often look similar?

Thanks. Cheap is good. No point buying a bargain and then throwing loads of money at it.

Not a lot yet, only bought it last week (2nd hand). popped a white mudguard on the back and have a muckynuts front one on order.

Its just the bars feel different to my old bike (an ancient saracen that was built before you could ride a bike :D ). Side by side the stem is shorter on the carrera plus the bars bend back a bit, so looking at options to get it to feel more like the trusty saracen. Wasn't struck by the white colour but it was a good deal so bought it anyway, but its growing on me so might as well run with the colour scheme.

It could probably do with lighter tyres and posssibly wheels to lose a bit of weight, but its a top bit of kit for the money

    Bu**er to keep clean though.

I gave up on that ages ago with my white Fury, I just keep the drivetrain nice with some degreaser now and again and just wash everything else with the hosepipe. It gets used 7 days a week, so there's no hope of it staying clean.

  • hello,
Love the tires. Not a fan of matching colour though, doesn't make it faster :p
The worst part of the bike are the rims, they weigh 680g and really hinder performance and feel, save and replace the wheels and the difference will be huge. I can't afford that so I switched out the Carrera rims for some Mach 1 mx xc rims, they're 500g so still not light but at £20 what do you expect. The erd is the same so you don't need to pick up new spokes.

My bike has white wheels now, but still looks best covered in yorkshire mud :D

If anyone can get me one of these cheap I'd appreciate it, I almost bought one new off Gumtree for £140 but I left it because it was in London and the guy needed money as he was going abroad on holiday, he wanted me to go down and collect it. I should of got him to do the postage. £140 man what a bargain. Idiots on eBay are buying them at £300, whats the point when you can buy the new carrera fury for that much on eBay for the same price, I don't get it, what fools live on this planet sometimes!

anyway, if anyone has one for sale or can get me one below £200, I will consider it, a mean, they can sell bikes bought a few months back at £1000 for like £600 on eBay, why not these bikes like vengeance when they went half price at halfords at £290, they should sell for maybe £150?

    hmmm
