The cadbury shop near me sells Seconds chocolate. I bought a bag of Creme Eggs for about 20p last year. Nom nom nom.

+1 for the Oakleys. Radars and M Frames are my favourites for sport.

Each to their own Paul and im not having a pop at anyone who does buy "2nd's" but personally i would not entertain the idea regardless of what made them "2nd's in the first place.

As Al has pointed out, why bother paying £50-£60 more for the same thing when it only has a small cosmetic defect that you'll probably have made over time anyway. The mark on my Jawbones is on the inside arm and hardly noticable on inspection and not noticeable at all when wearing them. Lenses are perfect and they are the most important part.

You sound like a manufacturers dream customer

+1 for jawbones, very comfy and great for keeping wind out of your eyes.

I use black iridium photochromatic lenses most of the time, including at night and have fire iridium for bright days. Mine are prescription so not vented, and they do often steam up if you stop, but simply moving them slightly off the bridge of your nose resolves this and you can push them back once moving.
  • I bought the 1/2 jacket with 3 lenses the Half Jacket XLJ lenses as the les has a shape at the edgewhich alows you to look around. they can be used off the bike too without looking like a numpty

I can't believe that someone on here would rather pay top whack than save some money. it doesn't matter if you've got money and you work hard, its better in your pocket. Next thing you'll tell us you only buy brand new cars and are willing to take the £1000s hit on driving it out of the garage. Outlet stores are not neccessarily seconds but overruns and discontinued models and/or colours or maybe the paint wasn't quite right that day. Still, you pays your money......

Can't see anything wrong with 'buying without compromise'. I like a bargain too, but it's a false economy if you end up with something you feel is not quite right.

With shopping around, discount codes, quidco etc I only paid about £15 more than what i would have paid for seconds, so while they offer a big saving on RRP the saving is not necessarily as big as it seems.

Plus i got the soft vault case included and the full warranty (although the seconds may come with a full warranty too, i dont know?) so i dont particularly feel like a mug paying a bit more.

In my opinion the Jawbones are majorly overrated and far inferior to the radars. They didn't stay on my face well, constantly slipping down. They steamed up a lot and they cut away a lot of vision because of the bottom edge. Also, I find it easier to change the lense on my radar as it doesn't need a tool for the job.

The Jawbones aren't bad but I'd definitely recommend getting the Radars over them. I've owned both and much prefer them. The major thing Jawbones have going for them is that they look fantastic. I mean, they're the bee's knees in terms of looks. But I think they're let down in terms of performance and value for money. So, it depends where your priorities are really.
  • You don't need a tool to change jawbone lenses.

They come with 2 different sized nose pieces that help give a good fit although if your head is too thin, it's too thin.

Prefer mine to my Radars, not sure why, just seem to choose them unconsciously.

The reasons the Jawbones slipped is down to the shape of your face, not your fault I know you cant change it :D , but its not problem of the Jawbones. My Jawbones sit rock solid on my face because they suit my face, maybe Radars wouldnt.

Have no idea why you state that Jawbones need a tool to change lenses, very strange :?
  • I have a pair of Oakleys which cost £110 and I have a pair of "Sports sunglases" from Lidl
They do exactly the same job and the Oakleys don't make me any faster. If they work it doesn't matter who makes them, as long as they are comfortable don't distort your view or fog up too much.

  • I have an oakley lens with a dent in it from a sharp stone flicked up by a lorry. It is dead centre of the right lens. Not confident any other glasses would have provided the same level of protection.

Shit, I'd been unscrewing that thing the whole time! ha. Just looked it up and you don't need to. Don't I feel foolish?

Anyhow, I tried both nose pieces and it just didn't work for me.

I found a website a while back listing all the variations of Oakley lenses and their usage (which I now can't find). Has anybody else come across this/know the website?

Oakley dealers used to display one of their lenses blasted by shotgun pellets alongside their ranges.

I've tried a few other makes but for me Oakley are always the best. Most comfortable and they last forever.

If there are any women on here - some absolute bargains for the womens range of sports glasses on sale :

I crashed and landed on the front/side of my head a while back and although I needed stitches where the frame of my Oakleys (M-frames) hit my brow bone, the lens also took a lot of scuffing along the tarmac. I've got deep gouges in the lens and I'm just thankful that the lens didn't crack or splinter on impact (and nor did the frame).

I am more than happy to pay £100+ for some glasses if they offer protection. Besides, Oakley customer service is second to none and replacement parts are offered at very good prices.

Along with my Half jackets I have some old A-wires with gold iridium lenses, anyway the one arm went past it's stop and therefore wouldn't grip onto the side of my head, it looked like the metal had just given up and rounded off due to a manufacturing problem.

I rang Oakley up, they gave me an address to return them to look at them, before I knew it they had returned them, new frame, with my orginal lenses in them, without paying a penny apart from the postage, now that's service.

Just got a set of Oakley Radar Path's in Livestrong colours on ebay with 3 sets of lenses for £110 posted. They're used, but for that price I can't complain.

My wife has just ordered me some Jawbones for my birthday (or a late Xmas present - I'm not sure which: I bought her diamonds, she bought me a DVD... ). Anyhow, I'd sent her the link for the "seconds" but it seems she missed it and bought me some from somewhere else. Apparently the guy said I'd love her forever once I'd tried them! (just wait until I find out who that was...  )

I love great customer service - it builds so much loyalty, even if it was their fault. I once had a slightly faulty Wenger computer rucksack. I emailed them to find out what to do. Within an hour I had an reply from the States saying it was 1-in-a-million and within a week I had a replacement shipped to me. I still have the original.

  • As well as my Pro M Frames I also have a pair of Racing Jackets as modeled below. I love my Straight Jackets and wouldn't gove them up for anything.... unless Hincapie went back to wearing them!

I would never wear any other make of glasses than Oakley so crack on and you won't go wrong!

Well I tried some Jawbones on my ride this morning and I have to be honest and say I was disappointed. They weren't very comfortable (which could be the fault of my face) but the bigger problem was that over 15mph the cold air (-3C to -5C) made my eyes water like baggery (I'm guessing via the vents...). I'm not sure the periferal vision was as good either.

The benchmark I was using was a pair of £6 PBK-branded sunnies that I've been using all year but the interchangeable lenses are getting a bit tired.

I'm normally a fan of Oakleys (I have two pairs of titanium Polaroid Whiskers - don't ask) but, for my needs, the Jawbones don't work.
