Cycle against Capitalism

You see, I'd actually agree with that. But I don't see a) what that has to do with capitalism or otherwise and b) how reinforcing the stereotype of the nuisance cyclist by attempting a two-wheeled shutdown of London is going to help. A more constructive approach might be either to vote for a politician you believe in at your next local election or to stand for local government yourself.
Hmmm I'm not sure what local government councillors are going to achieve...... More cyclepaths perhaps?
But i agree with the ethos and dont intend to sit around whining. Time to get off the pot or pi ss0 -

<troll mode> Wait, so what you want is a system that doesn't prioritise money, but human wellbeing? Say using indicators of happiness to set policy? Like David Cameron is planning on doing? </troll mode>Bike lover and part-time cyclist.0 -
If it was such a good idea then some country somewhere at some time would have adopted this wonderful system and made it work. Can anyone name a few examples? Or one for that matter...."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

If you make the roads nice & smooth then I'm in.0

To deal with capitalisms excesses and abuses effectivley we must first control the political framework which provides support and succor to Capitalism.
We need a political system where self agrandisment and self serving politicians become a thing of the past. Thats where I propose to start. With the Establishment!
Despite the theoretical issues with a monarchy, the practice is very different, what we really need are politicians that are answerable, have real life experience and less beaurocracy all round.

Interesting argument Barry, so would you agree with the following?
Government Must Be Downsized
Special Interests Eliminated
Intrusive Government Stopped
and
Political Offices Available To Average Citizens0 -
Well, im a commercial banker.....
So if you want to look at some form of capital investment to help fun your movement I may be able to look at it.0 -

For sure youre buddies might cheer and jeer you on, (thats another herd mentality behaviour) and that might make you feel better but it matters not a jot to me.

So BaBo, I have a vague idea of the CONCEPT you don't like (capitalism), but not any of the specific symptoms or results of it (other than us all being sheep).
I also gather that you'd like to change something, somewhere - perhaps "The System"?
But in the fog of bad grammar, lazy sentence construction and poorly reasoned argument, what I really don't grasp is HOW, in practical terms, you plan to implement the revolution.
What's the plan, man? Surely a free-thinking radical such as yourself has something more than mere charm (which you appear to have in spades) to persuade the poor souls like me to support you in your quest for a brave new world?
Oh yes, a bike ride through town. That should do it. And then?0 -
Could you try this in Afghanistan, Iran or northern Pakistan first so we can see how it works.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

Nope BB is a regular troll just under a new name. AKA 'Black Panther', 'Westerberk' etc. He loves to wind up 'lefties' based upon whatever he's read in the Daily Mail that day, and gets really narked/nasty when he's exposed as a troll. The eaiest way to wind him up is to post up this piccy of his hero:

I believe in creating a system where all arguments can be won with a single all encompassing statement! To be repeated as mantra in response to EVERY SINGLE QUERY OR CRITICISM.
WE SHALL NOT TOLERATE INTELLIGENCE DEBATE! ALL QUESTIONS ARE ANSWERED IN THE ALL ENCOMPASSING STATEMENT!"I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost;
Than never to have loved at all."

BTW, can't believe Black Panther is back, more faces than Steve Coogan and about as funny, too.0 -
Without a capitalist system can you tell me how I will be able to obtain the De Rosa King 3 that I covet?
The only way I can think of is to work bl**dy hard, save cash, buy and bl**dy well enjoy fruits of my labour.
NB: Only using the De Rosa as example so do not want to start generating responses on the pluses/negatives of said bike.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -
do you think there may be other events? like Swim Against Capitalism perhaps?
If so I am going to practice my breaststroke
