Im new here, but non the less Im calling for your support by riding with me against the capitalist system.

This country is being crushed by right wing inherited wealth and over privelidge and their colleagues big business.

The access to education for the man in the street is being curtailed and with it his opportunity to move freely in the ecconomy. In effect we are being neutered and enslaved in a return to the 1920s. So on Monday May 2nd i am organising a ride in London designed to grind the capitalist sytem to a halt.

Naturally the preferred dress code is black and red but your presence is more important.
Fire extinguishers optional.

This is anti-capitalist but you want 'the man in the street' to move freely in the economy?

Why am I even responding to this?

Do Rapha make a red and black jersey?
  • Would love to join the anti capitalist ride, but in order to avoid any irony can you please recommend a bike i could purchase not made by a capitalist bike company? Looking for something where the manufacturer did not have to raise any CAPITAL in order to get the firm going, support it during the first few years and then help it to develop with more CAPITAL investment.
Obviously have to avoid anything that has been shown at capitalistic bike shows, need CAPITAL to stage those and again anything that has been sponsored.
Also avoid bike forums, as capitalist firms developed the internet for home home use (Thanks Benners for working for a company that supported your research) and definitely no mobile phones to organise the demonstration.

Anti capitalism is great, until you get in the real world and realise its not utopia out here and we all need money and reasons to work.

Out for a thrash on the South Downs, funded by the capitalist government. Thanks guys

    Good luck Barry.

I watched you hit a couple of home runs for the giants in SF a few years ago. Very enjoyable evening as I recall.

    Glad you're keeping busy.
  • I like to give someone a fair hearing so please, could you expand a little on what you'd replace the system with? Who'll be in charge? What are their ideals and most importantly why do they want the power? Thanks.

Sorry, but I won't be able to help with this one. I'm a capitalist, you see.

  • What's wrong with Capitalism?
  • Sorry Barry, I can't make the ride but if one is organized in Manchester/Leeds/Bradford I will try to be there.

It is a common accusation to label anti-capitalists as hypocrites because they "wear shoes" or "ride a bicycle" or whatever, but these arguments sort of make the OPer's point. The world is locked into a capitalist mode of production meaning that people have no choice but to obtain their goods and services this way.

Capitalism is not the only possible mode of production, however presently, non profit-making production is restricted to a very small number of niches.

Yes, capitalism has brought great benefits to the world but it is also flawed in a number of fundamental ways. I'll be happy to debate this with anyone who is up for a mature discussion, but not with angy ignoramuses (ignorami?) like Spen666.

    How ignorant to say:
    1. people have no choice to obtain goof=ds via capitalism AND THEN SAY
    2. Capitalism is not the only possible mode of production

Clearly the peoplke do have a choice.

    They have chosen capitalism

Not one to let facts stand in the way of truth

You know sweet FA about me or my views or intelligence- so isn't it rather ignorant to make such inaccurate accusations.

Its is highly ironic you accuse me of being ignorant yet you manage to undermine your own argument one sentence after making it

  • Most cyclists in London ride to get round obstacles, not to create them. However, if you want to bring London to a standstill, you could ditch the bike and find the largest vehicle you can and drive around aimlessly in the middle of London until the whole system grinds to a halt.

And what are the fire extinguishers for? Can I presume that that you intend to create some damage with them to further your view of anti-capitalism ?

Can you imagine what Eddie Stobart and crew would do to twatts like this one?
But if he did bring a truck can someone get the trailer number for me please?

I don't ride my bike for or against anything or anyone - cycling is not a political activity it's a means of transport - oh and do try to improve you're spelling if you're planning to go to university. Frankly a reduction in the number of students attending Meedya Studies or Soshology would be a blessing to us all
  • Ha ha barry you made the cardinal error on this forum of asking people to change their way of thinking. As you've probably gathered from the responses most forumites are rigid and unthinking in their views, incapable of independent, inquiring or original thought. I should know i'm one of them.

    Good luck anyway.

The bigger the protest, the bigger the bill to police it. Money which comes from British tax payers who (some) work for capitalist companies. Wierd this cycle isn't it. At least i might make some overtime out of it!
