Tell us how it really rides compared with a more modern framed machine.
fun project and the new finish is lovely, but i'm afraid at the end of it all it's still gonna have a rotten core..0 -
It's kinda like buying a MR2 and making it look like a Ferrari lol.
Looks good though.0 -

Thanks!
We've shortened the brake hoses so in theory its ready to ride, but the ice around here is lethal at the moment, so it might have to wait for a while. We are probably going to get a new shock soon, and some wider bars(orange hopefully). Some new forks would be nice, but if the frame doesnt ride well, its not worth the money.0 -
You know what, i really like that...
and that's worrying because i dont generally say that.
If you flogged that on ebay it would come up trumps i bet! :PThe Frog: Lapierre Zesty 214 2010 - Upgraded - W.I.P0 -
Thanks!
Just bought a new rear shock-got an ario 2.1 in the end-barely used bargain off ebay.
That should hopefully arrive and be fitted some time during the week.0 -
Final pics now, with new rear shock installed. To commemorate the occasion, I have learnt how to resize pics! ( I hope)
On the last pic the shock mounts do look a bit dodgy, but these have since been fixed.
If anyone has any orange bling for sale(orange bolts etc.) please PM me
I am now on the hunt for a new saddle and 25.4 clamp 680mm ish wide orange bars.(please also PM if you have one for sale)0 -

It feels slightly heavier than my mums Carrera Kraken, so Id probably say it weighs about 13.5kgs
The saddle and seatpost weigh a whopping 750 grams though, so with some upgrades there, and some ligher forks (the suntours are 2.4 kgs!) I think 12kgs would be doable.0 -

Still waiting for the snow to dissapear!0 -
Well, I rode it round the block yesterday, and it rides really nicely, apart from I need to play around with the rear shock pressures and bleed the brakes again.0

I had to shorten the hoses, and there was air in it.0 -

Forks need to be 120-130mm travel unfortunately. 100mm will be too short.
Thanks anyway.0 -

News:
Did have a quick ride last week, and it rides really nicely, apart from the bars being too narrow. Were going to order some exotic 700mm wide bars to solve that problem soon.
Weve also ordered a wiggle charge spoon (black and orange) to replace that awfull apollo saddle.
I also made an interesting discovery yesterday-the rear mech hanger is exactly the same as on a 2008 carrera kraken. This means the frame was likely made by the same people as the carrera kraken (which, iirc was merida).0
