I'm off to the VW dealer.
Thewaylander: :P
The £550 is only for the first year to, and I quote "send a stronger signal to the buyer about the environmental implications of their car purchase" you evil, polar bear killing, poluting scum, with your desire to own a nice car rather than a Prius... I'm paraphrasing the last bit.
In the second year you pay the standard rate... I'd have a quiet word with the dealer and see if he'd subsidise it!
yep, its a perfectly reasonable £235 after the first year.
Personally I think anyone who buys a brand new ford is daft in the head and should be levied with a £1000 stupidity tax as well.0 -

Meh Deisel is fine,
It's no where near as fun as petrol but it does a job and is handy when you really load your car, doesn't lose as much pull as petrol then.
But if i was buying a hot petrol hatch, it would be one of the Renault sport models all the way, like a clio cup, or the megane cup.. the new megane cup is possibly the most evil hot hatch ever0 -

Actually got to agree I am quite partial to the Renault hot Meganes and Clios. That Megane R26R with the half roll cage as standard was the way it should be done "I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Fords are fat. thats it.
Drive the Megane it's light and aggessive, and just makes the fords feel like lumps of lard with big engines. I'm all with you Stevo.
the Megane is a true hot hatch, the ford is a stiff Family car with a big engine in comparison. Honestly.0 -

Waylander - too right.
Not sure about build quality of French cars these days - my old 205 GTI was made out of kit-kat wrappers and sticky back plastic - but it was massively good fun to drive, like a big go-kart. Don't get me wrong - I like Fords, but if I was going to go back to doing track days in a hot hatch I'd take the Megane over the Focus any day. As an everyday car, its a different story..."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
I take your bad boy and raise you this puppy
Better still the EXR road going version
OMG I think I have just spilled some man juice
