New car - Focus ST, Astra SRi or Scirocco TSI?

As per the title. I already have a Focus and from a domestic appliance point-of-view it does everything I want. Choice is pretty much restricted to local dealers.

Should I get another Focus or go for something different?

If an ST it must be blue with a white stripe. If an Astra, it must not be an Astra. But personally I'd be choosing the sciroco in white, so long as its the same price as the ST, if its much more then id consider the ST more.

Stick with what you know and get another Focus. Not driven the new Scirocco (which IMO looks like a Golf that's been sat on by an Elephant), but not that impressed with the new Astras.

Slow, under-performing, poor handling and ugly. So pretty much just meh. Get the ST, or Scirocco if you, like me, think it looks the dogs

I'd have a Focus ST out of that choice (considering one myself). It's by far and away the best value for money and goes like stink.

On the other hand I'm considering a diesel, maybe an Audi A4 2.5 quatto or a BMW 330d sport.

    Lack of rear view.
Engine seemed to rev quickly enough, but the car didn't seem to respond accordingly (sluggish).
Gearbox was a bit stiff and wouldn't always go into 3rd.
Found the pedal position a bit cramped (and I've got small feet - size 8).

Granted this was a rental, so probably had been thrashed a bit.
  • Focus ST out of that lot.

The Astra is average is ok, but nothing special if its the last model which i assume it is, if its the newers its a good car but there isn't a great sport version yet.

And I just hate the damn Sirroca used to be such a cool car years ago now its just an overpriced sat on golf :s

This is what I'm thinking but I like the look of the Scirocco and something tells me the new Astra should be competitive with the Focus :?

    D) none of the above.
  • I'd have a focus ST in orange
I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

the Astra SRI isnt comparable with either of these cars? its not turbo'd? now the VXR is and is a bit of a loony car, crap but fun.
The scirroco is lovely looking IMO but overpriced, this would be my choice as the Focus ST is everywhere around here, it seems the nobbers who couldnt afford to replace their BMW's with another BMW are now driving these believing they are they are the fastest thing on the road!
My brother rides a motorbike and he's forever saying that ST owners are out to kill him!

ST's = cheap fast fun but just too common. (also due to be replaced very soon)
VXR = loonatic fun but uncomftable and dated already
Scirocco = cool but expensive, VW believe in Evolotion not revalution when it comes to updates so is likely to hold its value longer.

Buy a diesel car, and spend the saved fuel money on bacon, cake, and beer.
  • if u want an ST u had better hurry up, as the new EU emmisions law means its not long for this earth. but id go for the scirocco, just cause it seems to have a more premium look.

i imagine itd be a bitch to get a bike in, but meh, scirocco in white please :)

    Ah, Electric lookatmeIhaveafastcar Orange.

The ST is a fine car, but if you don't want to look like a pleb it really needs to be Performance Blue or Sea Grey (imho)

Think it would probably be in white or red but then again after looking at the ST's emissions band and the consequent five hundred and fifty pounds per year road tax  a 1.4 turbo Scirocco is looking all the more appealing.

    Road tax is insane.
Annoyingly, my old man doesn't have to pay any road tax at all on his new car

335d? Has 428lb.ft of torque which is more than an artic, and can do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds which can beat some petrol cars.

Fiat Panda? it has an engine and 4 wheels and is generally beaten by most cars in a straight line.
