Well done mate. You've clearly got good motivation which is most of the battle in the early weeks.
I tend to yoyo with my weight a bit and a lot of what I found was that by not eating steadily I'd get starving and then stock up on sugary stuff in desparation. Between instant porridge for breakfast, innocent veg pots at lunch and my wife's vegetarian cooking I'm managing to squeeze much better quality food into a quite busy day.
Some stuff I've found from other forum members which have helped:
Daily plate on the Livestrong site - makes me think twice about sweets knowing I'll have to tell Mr Armstrong I've been bad. I got the iphone app too so no excuses.
SIS Rego recovery drink after sessions of 1 hour or more - stops the hunger pangs after a decent workout, I used to just eat anything in arms reach
Decent breakfast, especially on training days, mainly porridge & brown bread toast
Make sure I eat something like a mueseli bar as I leave work to go to the gym, again so I'm not starving when I get home.
I also bought a set of rollers so I could do longer indoor rides on days like today when the bike's not an option and I've already done some quite intense sessions on the turbo. A good stock of cycling videos is helpful too.0 -
I weighed 19st a year ago today I weigh 12.
Cycling has helped as has running to and from work and selling the car. I walk everywhere I need to go or cycle whichever I feel
Diet has played a massive role though I went from 20 fats and kebabs etc to snacking on fruit and nuts to eating fish chicken veg and grains etc etc
Here is a before/after of me, albeit I'm a little thinner again..

Not being funny here, but how on earth have you managed to get so overweight, given you have run / ridden all of those distances? It's not as if you can just get up one Sunday morning and decide to run a marathon, let alone 12 of them! You must have been doing a reasonable amount of training preparation.
good point there i think0 -

Keep going bexley/craig - don't worry too much about teh speed - just keep doing it - the speed will come!0

You can do what I just did and get a stomach bug - nothing like not eating for nearly 24hrs and throwing up to shed those last few pounds.
PS Don't do this, it hurts.0 -
keep going. you dont sound like you need any advice but for anyone struggling i used www.livestrong.com. (yes it is lances cancer foundation site). what it did for me was allow me to see written down what i was eating,,how many calories, how many i was burning etc. a bit like having a written training plan. worked for me. -there are plenty of other sites quite similar if you dont like that one. the real key to the whole weight issue is lifestyle change- if you want to be as fit and healthy as possible then maybe we need to reevaluate certain "food" items- its a bit like smoking, your paying someone to poison your system.sorry if that makes me sound a bit radical but how hard do you work on the bike? then destroy it eating crap?healthy food doesnt have to be boring ,man i love food even more now its helping to make me a better cyclist. oh p.s. livestrong also has a great ride planning facility(loops) and its free.Death or Glory- Just another Story0

I don't average much more than that on many of my rides (unless I really push it). SO don;t worry about the speed.
I found that when I'm focussed on weight loss, my speeds are lower anyway as I lack the full amount of calories and energy needed to go fast.
Once you reach your target weight and can eat a bit more (maintenance vs loss) you may find you can go fast/harder/longer.
Keep up the good work and post some before/after pics when you get closer to your goal weight!0
