  • Anyone have any ideas how much the AIR 9.4 is?
Looks a very nice bike :)

  • Tanks for the update. Hopefully not have to wait to much longer now.

So I guess there are still no pictures or anything more on the spec knocking about.

You said you saw the "new Team 2011 in the window of Halfords Wimbledon. New store opens on the 25th.
Team = full 105, Mavic wheels, grey, £999
    Comp = £799, couldn't see spec"

Were these the alu versions? Seem a bit pricey, and a shame if they've moved away from SRAM Rival...
Titus Silk Road Ti rigid 29er - Scott Solace 10 disc - Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 disc - Scott CR1 SL - Pinnacle Arkose X 650b - Pinnacle Arkose singlespeed - Specialized Singlecross...& an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray 4 string...

the frame read "triple butted aluminium ultra light", the stem and seat post are branded Boardman, there are a ton of stickers on either side of the forks and frame, a white seat and white taped bars. Mavic Aksium rims flat spokes & Zaffiro tyres
No Ritchey on it anywhere as far as I could see.
Shimano 105 shifters and dérailleurs, Ultegra 6700 crank.
    they quoted
    £1299 Team Carbon
    £999 Road Team
    £799 Comp

i dont like the silver wheels and there must be some reason for the 105.the forks look to be team carbon of current modle.

  • It will be interesting to to see how that will compare with other similar priced bikes. I guess depending on there quality of the ali frame, people may be looking more at planetx, rubble and even Dylan for there budget carbon bikes.
  • Thanks for this Blue!

It's crazy this is all the info we have, not even on their website!,,

I've posted this on the Boardman Bike FB...

    Great post!

Yes you're right, what a knucklehead

In attempt to be a bit more helpful (not that I'm specifically looking for a Boardman) I went into Halfords lunchtime and they couldn't confirm anything about delivery of the 2011 range. End of March at the earliest they are now thinking.

Prices start (they think) from £1399 for the Team and £1800 for the Pro. Can't confirm what the specs will be. They don't know what the bike will look like, no more than we do.

The guy I spoke to is anticipating a wider range of bikes for 2012 as demand is expected to increase with the Olympics - and a likely Special Edition model, but he was guessing to be fair.

The 2010 model was available at £999.

Is that a Ultergra crank? Looks like an FSA to me!
Or am I being a clown.
  • Cramman,
    you're right it's FSA
saw the full range today. They didn't allow me to photograph though. All models have thru frame cabling.
There is a new entry level, Road Race £629 I think.
The Comp has SRAM Apex, Mavic wheels and is very pretty in white.
The Team with full 105 is supposedly an upgrade on the 2010 model as the wheels are more robust as are the bearings. The salesman claimed the Ritchey wheels were thin walled and susceptible to distortion ??
Shame about the loss of the SRAM.

IMHO they look good but not for me, so I went and bought a 2010 model as I prefer the subtler branding and thought the spec at the discounted prices real value for money.

full ranges at Wimbledon and Guildford I was told
  • Tanks blueblue.

I have my cycle to work voucher all ready to spend but there are no XL sized team carbos left so I guess I'll be going for the new team which by the looks is an aluminium frame.

Will have to wait until shops closer to home stay getting them in.
  • hi Cramman,
saw an XL Team Carbon in Chiswick Halfords today.
They might ship it inter store for you.
    It looked pristine.

  • Out of interest, does anyone know where exactly the 2011 range is being sold? Is it still via Halfords?

They haven't even been released yet so I'm surprised many people think they know about it....
  • Maxwell,
the salesman said they are still exclusive to Halfords.
They new 2011 models still had the Halfords branding stickers on the frames.
  • Thanks Blue.
IMHO, perhaps selling the performance range through Halfords and the Elite range through a more specialist chain would of been a good idea. Still cracking bikes though!

Thanks for that. I'll call into my local store tomorrow and see what they have to say.

So are those bike available through Halfords?

I’d definitely be interested in what you go for, at the minute I’m thinking either Boardman on Dolan Mythos.

Spoken to Halfords and there is no chance they can get me a 2010 Xl.

Yes as a special order. They can actually source most bikes which I didn't realise when I ordered my voucher, put a couple of bikes just over my voucher!! I am pretty much settled on one of the 3 bikes so just want to see the boardmans for the spec and the looks!

    Boardman Team Carbon 2010

After reading plenty of reviews, mostly bad, got one for myself. Its absolutely lovely. I have Specialized Allez Elite with Tiagra. The difference is in miles.

Light, very fast with slightest pressure on the saddles. Its a great climber. The hills I usually struggle have become much easier. Vibration dampening much better. Only theh weather keeps me off the bike.

The SRAM Rival group set is wonderful. Brought from Merryhill Halfords. Nicely set up for me. No complaints. The guy who works there seems to know what he is doing.

Negatives- Well I like the look of Specialized which shiny and RED. Boardman looks a bit boring and my 5yr old daughter agrees with me!

I'll highly recommend the team carbon.

Where did you see them? The only bad reviews I've ever seen are from forum warriors who have never actually ridden one, offended that a bike so cheap, sold in Halfords* and not made in Italy could be so good. CW's 10/10 review seems more typical to me.

*my phone helpfully corrected "Halfords" to "culture" for me, not sure what that proves

    Hi

You say you have been reading plenty of reviews of the Team Carbon mostly bad :?:

I would love to know where you seen all these bad reviews of the Boardman Team Carbon ?
The vast majority of the reviews I have seen say the bikes are great!
I did a lot of research before I bought mine last year and I found very few negative reviews and they were nearly always because of the occasional bad set up of the bikes by Halfords.

Glad to here you like yours
    enjoy :)

Yep, the same for me. I only read good reviews or it being diss'ed by posters who obviously felt mugged for paying much more for an inferior bike.

People have many different bikes but the Boardmans are always recognised as excellent bikes and excellent value for money, by those with open minds.

Ask around at a cycling club, if you really want to know. Boardmans, especially the TC, often lead the peleton.
