Better pics when it's as I want it.
I've been hankering after one for a LONG time. Too expensive new to justify it, hen's teeth on eBay, especially in my size... However, today it came. My dream frame!

It is as it came through the post, I just added some wheels I had lying around. Will redo the tape black and get some Vittoria Open Corsas in black on there but other than that I think it's staying as it is. The Shimano wheel/Cassette worked PERFECT first time, no adjustment or anything needed! I think, for the price, I struck utter eBay GOLD!

I love the finish on the lugs. Stunning.

My first full foray into Campag too...

Ha! Very nice. Now I understand the Cervelo.

I'm amazed that the Shimano cassette plays nicely with the Campag groupset. Interesting.

Not as amazed as me! I just put it on just for photo taking reasons thinking I wouldn't be able to ride it today, but it's perfect. I mean perfect.
  • Awesome bike. Definitely keep the Campag kit on it!

Significantly less than a Planet X nanolight with Sram Rival.
  • Ohhhh nice! Beautiful blend of classic style with modern whooshness.

Are those Planet X Model B's?

No, cheaper, note the aero spokes and rim profile though...

Saying that, I've raced on them numerous times and they've been fine!!

They are Alex rims 220 with the decals removed.

    Au contraire. Very very naughty!
  • That's rather splendid.

I find Shimano shifts OK over Campag cassettes (due to the floating top jockey) I'm surprised it works well the other way.

So you haven't told the wife and she is still yet to use Google to its full potential? Good drills!

The Open Paves are on my Open Pro/Powertap wheels, which will feature on this bike occasionally...

Just realised the cassette is actually a Sram Force one...

I couldn't get my campag centaur to play nice with a shimano cassette at all!

    Lovely bike btw

Watch this space re:deep carbon rims...

At the moment this will be my winter/training bike/General purpose bike...
  • Very nice indeed....very classic looking machine..... 8)
Find your limits...and then exceed them frequently
  • OK, I'm confused. You have a 58cm S2 and a 58cm C50? Seems to me the S2 is too big for you, oh, just happens to be my size, I'll give you £50 for it :D
  • i never seen chain stays like that before they look great.

    nice bike :D
  • Without meaning to p*ss on your parade - and I'm really pleased its doing it for you - I have to say that my C50 (years ago) was one of the most underwhelming rides I've had. Neither specially comfortable like my C40 that preceded it, nor particularly stiff, light or exciting to ride, I found it very average and a bit dull :(

Stick with the ti I say
  • Very nice, especially if it was a bargain. Have you considered getting a seatpost shim and putting in a 27.2mm diameter (non Colnago) seatpost?

Ooooh - don't say that. You're making me regret not buying a new, unused CT2 in PR04 colours that was (until recently) for sale in a shop I know in the USA. Hmmm: carbon-ti compsite frame, I suppose.

becolem - Each to their own! I think it's fantastic, great handling, comfortable, reasonably stiff (certainly stiff enough to race on, just ask Oscar Friere who preferred the C50 to the EPS) and looks great.

    Cap'n Fagor - I like having a Colnago seatpost...

It's a lovely looking bike, but does it mean that you won't be getting the CAAD 10?

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

It was the same price (or maybe cheaper) than the likely price of a new CAAD10 105 will be...

That said, depends if my Litespeed sells on eBay.

I can understand that. It might be worthwhile loosening and adjusting it once in a while to make sure it doesn't get stuck in the frame - that's why I was suggesting a shim. I installed one in my C50 a couple of years ago for this very reason. And in the interim, one of my non-shimmed carbon seatposts has stuck fast in a carbon frame (Bianchi). Very annoying.
