Here's a place for all you people who commute who don't like other people or can't be bothered meeting others (for whatever reason) can talk about conspiracy theories and different levels of being bitter...

I can't be bothered meeting in the morpeth 'cos it would be be a 660odd mile round trip....

thats too far for me....and a taxi fare home would be a brute!

I do find myself in London for work and/or fun on every now and again, and would pop along for a hello and a cheery beer if it coincided though. Unless Clever Pun was there...I heard that he promulgates sensational ruin, and i can't work out if he wears an occasional hat, or occasionally wears a hat. either way....hats scare me (don't ask).

Sounds like a Will3/Running Man commute (not an in joke, see stats thread)

I'm a little surprised a no one from Edinburgh or Glasgow seems to meet up for rides as there seems to be a fair few of you

fyi I don't wear a hat in the pub, it's a lot warmer down here and there's aircon/heating

I think some of the folks on the mtb forum meet up.....

to be honest.....i wouldn't be interested in a road ride anyway......roads are for getting to work on....trails are for fun!

There was talk of a meet up in Glasgow but only 3 of us seemed interested and we couldn't find a good time.

Yes, but being a techy type I'd also presumed he had the ability to communicate the invite to other, less geographically hampered mods...

I meet up with the Lanarkshire group. And then they all cycle off ahead whilst I struggle slowly along half a mile behind them

I need a whole seperate thread so I can moan about everyone!

People who attend the Morpeth (with any frequency) will know that I'm hardly there. I will happily hang with anyone.

So I don't fit in with the emo 'social-forums-are-not-for-socialising' grumble-bums.

    AND

I don't fit in with the exclusive 'lets-commute-along-the-embankment-and-go-on-holidays-together' Zach Morris crew.

I guess that as I'm a social and online outcast I'm completely unique, cool even. I may change my name to iDD'D.*

Seriously though, we try and do a slow pace so that even those with little experience or fitness are not put off. Seems to be working so far..... Getting people along from Falkirk, Edinburgh, Gourock Stiring and Kilmarnock, even to some of the midweek runs.

    Yep,

But seriously how can people actively resent friendship...

People on here are genuine friends with other people on here. They know far more about each others lives but keep the conversation bike and commuter related. I'm not as close to LiT as say Biondino, that doesn't mean I resent them for it and get jealous when the go weekend rides with others.

When I want to go on a weekend ride I either ask or create one of my own.

    Sheesh....

I'm being oppressed by this talk of Oatmeal heathens going riding as it's too far away and the places sound like fish - "I'll take a fillet of Gourock and some some Stirling Roe please"

    Also

Can anyone recommend a waterproof toilet roll carrier - stem mounted on a pre WW2 35/78 inch quil, left handed thread as I'm scared of clockwise - also I need a service done - can anyone GIVE ME ONE?

Mods please feel free to move this to "general".

One more time, the socialising and OT stuff is not a problem in itself, except when it starts to overwhelm the stuff that is actually cycling/commuting-related, which it had started to.

    How's that wasp taste?

    :lol::lol::lol:

I don't think the socialising stuff was overwhelming the board.

If I was a moderator and I should be... (Oooo next thread) And IF I had to I would have seperated out the commuting buying advice into another thread but left everything else.

    So you would have

    Commuter Buying advice *
Advice about what bike, what bike and what bike. What helemt and lights.

    Commuter General
General commuting chat, talk about your daily commute and all other commuter related chat.

    Workshop
    As it is.

*Buying advice is likely to be the first question a noob is going to ask, it was when I came here three years ago.

    Ironically:

    My very first post
My first post in this section after buying a bike
My third ever post - the one that started it all

That is not far off what we wanted, certainly all buying advice filtered out: but also some other more serious issues.

Of course there will be inevitible crossover with some posts, but that happens on other forums too.

What you need is user endorsement. Make me a moderator of this section and you'll get that.
