Black book is a comprehensive training manual
Blue book is advanced turbo traing manual

No, If planning to race in march then you should start in November, you can however start at anytime depending when you wish to race, be warned this is an intensive training manual and heed the warnings, there are plently, you must also eat well as the weight is going to drop of rapidly and evaluate your schedule on a regular basis to establish whether you are ahead of schedule, do not add harder sessions than reccomended, the low level sessions are a must or you will burn out.
If the volume of turbo sessions per week are likely to be a shock to you then I would reccomend you start a couple of light turbo sessions per week in october to prepair yourself for Nov-March.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, it's just the sort of thing I've been looking for0

Would be interested in the Blue Book also. Still trying to have a look at my routine for this winter as last years clearly did not work!"A cyclist has nothing to lose but his chain"

Can I use the spin bike at my local gym instead of a turbo? would I have to do anything differently?0

So has anyone here followed the plan through? If so did it make a really big difference to your performance the following season? I'll be starting it in November - aiming to improve from a butt kicking in a Go Race crit a few weeks back to being able to at least finish in the bunch in a 3/4 road race next season plus getting my 10 time down from 28 minutes to 24 minutes. I like the sound of the weight dropping off too!0

A lot of the folk on the timetriallingforum swear by it and have used it with good results. I'm going to have a go at it in next few weeks to see how I get on before I make a good solid attempt on it in November. I've been reading the Time Crunched Cyclist but jacked it in, just can't get on with the jargon and bumph that goes with it all. There is never redemption, any fool can regret yesterday...

It all makes sense with the plan and if adhered to then you will likely to seen an improvement. Generally if this is your first time in using it then follow it quite strictly and you'll get some great results.
The main thing for the first timer is that it will be a structured training plan and this adds a lot of confidence as well as fitness. You can sit on the line at the start of a race and be sure that you are in good shape and prepared.
I know a few Cat1 and 2's who swear by it and they're the ones who recommended it to me. I know that they're fast so they must be doing something right.
This winter I'll be sticking to it mostly but do triathlons so will have to work around it to fit all my training in.Specialized Epic
