Is he still 'eccentric' or is he drifting over to the dark side of being just a plain old 'maniac'?

From the very first day (his bizarre exchange during the rider presentation) his behaviour/demeanour is drifting dangerously toward psychotic!!!

He looks literally ready to explode.

    Why?
Whilst presented in quite a tongue-in-cheek way, I'm asking a serious question.

I think you're judging the media personality and the scenes that suit your perception of him.

He's a normal bloke, full stop.

I watched the interview with him on itv4 last night and my first thought was, he is a bit strange.

Ask it in a serious manner then. Your original post looks like something a world weary sub editor on the Sun would reject as being too over the top.

Every interview I see makes me cringe. Very strange person and can behave like a complete t1t, do not like him at all.
A ugly bike rider too he has an awful style on the bike, although he is a very tough and effective rider.

I posted this a while ago

I think Cadel can be a bit eccentric but think he's probably just a normal nice enough bloke. A few people I've spoken to who know him or have met him say he's a lovely guy and not strange in person.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.
  • The weirder he gets the more I warm to him. I hope he does well.

    Simple explanation= he's Australian :D
The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.

But this is on Wiki, I now like the dude.

In 2008, Evans wore a cycling undershirt with the Flag of Tibet and supported freedom for Tibet.[5][6] He said:

Trying to bring awareness of the Tibet movement is something someone in my position can do. I just feel really sorry for them. They don't harm anyone and they are getting their culture taken away from them. I don't want to see a repeat of what happened to Aboriginal culture [in Australia] happen to another culture.

His bike was tibetan coloured or had a flag on too. I like him I haven't seen anything (yet) that makes him seem at all strange, but then, I work in Birmingham.

I am quite sure he has Asperger's syndrome - effectively a mild form of autism. I used to work for someone who had it.
Amongst other things they communciate much better (and in fact usually prefer to ) by writing rather than speaking and have significant difficulties interpreting other people's feelings and usually have no idea what they are saying or doing is offensive.

Always gave me the impression that he was not popular with team mates too
Asked what he thought about the form of the race favourites, Van den Broeck said: “Schleck and Contador are super, but I think Evans is not quite as good as them.”

Omega Pharma DS Roberto Damiani was full of praise for Van den Broeck, saying he has handled the pressure of team leadership perfectly. “He stays very calm and has a good relationship with his team-mates. Rather than keeping himself distant from the other guys as Evans did [last year], VDB prefers to have close links with them. That camaraderie comes across in the race. Our leader believes in his team and the team believe in its leader. That wasn’t the case last year.”

So what has Evans done or said that is offensive? Wiggins called l'Equipe a bunch of wankers in yesterday's press conference, but I don't see anyone suggesting he has behavioural difficulties.

These riders are under extreme scrutiny and stress for three weeks - I think we'd all behave a little differently than we do in our normal lives.

But that is Lotto. Remember how they were all beer monsters who didn't take anything too seriously.

Some of Wiggo's hairdos indicate behavioral issues.

    Sure... along with camera headbutting

Seeing as he made a t-shirt of it, it shows a good sense of humour.

Like I said, extreme stress in an unusual situation. Considering the scrum at the end of a stage, and the way some of the people act in those moments (ask McEwen what he thinks about that), I don't think headbutting a camera is particularly shocking.

Cadel is obviously uncomfortable in those situations. Big deal. I would be too.

Taking the mickey out of yourself is a good thing IMO.

Also, look at how he defended Richie Porte in the Giro when people were hassling him. He's just not comfortable in front of the camera, no problem with that.
