Isn't it equalling McEwan's 12 stage wins for a sprinter?
It appears Zabel won 12 also0 -
Maybe they thought 6 wins last year 12 total now = equals record??___________________

another green jersey contender... Rojas can get over the hills

Gotta get the TDF boot, no?
McEwen to hospital, too. Hit a TDF official, so he will have been hefty.

Maybe Cav's record is the most wins for an under 25 yo rider?
I know Robbie's got 12 too, but I'm sure someone like Martens will have won more stages0 -

The Caisse d'Epargne rider looks so confused. The wheel shot was awesome! The most painful climb in Northern Ireland http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs200.snc1/6776_124247198694_548863694_2335754_8016178_n.jpg0 -
Wow that is a bit OTT...I wonder what it was about.

Probably screw up the wheel more than anything. Nice to see that the boys are taking things seriously. Well, maybe a bit too much, but........0 -

What do you want these guys to talk about when nothing's happening?
Ooops, Sean Kelly. 'Tis my first time listening to Eurosport.
I'm sure they can do better than that piece of drivel.
I think you have just demonstrated you can't
disappointing lack of aggressiveness by the peloton IMO
red cards all round....
needs more cobbles or somefink
Every GT i have ever watched (and its many) has days like this i am surprised so many posters are surpised.Even classic races like te 2005 Giro has days were nothing much happens, its perfectly in keeping with what usually happens.

I think this record thing came from the commentator saying that Cav had equalled Zabel's record of stage wins (i.e. what Erik had achieved), rather than any Tour record, and the BBC work experience boy got the wrong end of the stick
Maertens won 13 sprints and three time-trialsTwitter: @RichN950 -
Freddy Maertens was a great sprinter - but was not JUST a sprinter. If that makes any sense.
He was a great all-round rider that just happened to be able to sprint. Pure sprinters don't win Grand Tours and stage races do they (honest question)?
Anyway - I'm just explaining why the various articles are saying Cav tied the 'record' - it's for sprint wins.
I assume not all of Maertens' stage wins were sprint wins.0 -
Yeah I see what you mean, as in EBH isn't classified as a sprinter, but can sprint.
I thought the Vuelta that he won was one of the easiest ever though wasn't it? In that with the time bonuses he was able to lose minutes in the mountains0 -
And how about 1976? Won 8 stages that year in the TDF!!0

I explained it. 12 stage wins by a SPRINTER. 4 of them tied with 12 now.
Sorry POKERFACE I must have missed your POST maybe you should have SHOUTED AT ME in the first place.___________________

Video of McEwen crashing at the end of the stage... he's rather angry about it, too.
