Ar5e. Rang up to buy. Gone. The chap said they sold as soon as the sale went live :shock:0

You'll be able to find one cheap soon when people find that riding an uncompromisingly stiff bike of UK roads isn't much fun!Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
-
Had my eye on an Ultimate CF evo frameset in black/orange but don't know of many reviews, as Monty says they are supposed to be very stiff.0
-
Get one, they're great.
Yeah it's stiff but a carbon post and bars take the edge off. I think they've designed in more compliance recently, the seat stays on mine are 'Cervelo thin'.
I raced mine in a Crit last night and it felt right at home, so positive in the turns, I was really happy sat in the drops whereas on my Carbon bike I backed off on the same corners last week.
Mine's the Ultimate AL model by the way.
Nothing but praise so far,
Discounts still available in the 'outlet' section of the website0 -
399 Europops for the current Ultimate AL was a bloomin' bargain.0

I smell bullshit. This is the second time i've seen this comment from you. Is it actually founded upon anything 'proper' or the fact that Jimmy Casper rode into a bottle on a steep cobbled hill?0 -
I saw Cadels lo pro at expo at the weekend. Maaaan - so sharp it looks lethal.
Nice bike.0 -
Think Lotto rode the Ultimate Al at Roubaix in 2008 as well, if thats not a confirmation that Canyons aren't too stiff, I don't know what is.0
-
Just to clarify some thoughts on this 'too stiff' myth:
The guy (who i assume) test rides frames/bikes for PezCycling rates the Canyon in the same stiffness bracket as the Scott Cr1 and Cervelo SLC SL....
The Canyon Ultimate Al frame was ridden to 2 top 10 finishes in Paris Roubaix...
Also look at Gilbert's result in Flanders this year....0 -

Well... if you take 50% off from a price that as such is reasonable, you do get amazing value.
BTW: I think I'm one of the lucky ones who managed to get a Ultimate CF Evo frame this morning. At least the order got accepted.0 -
They still had my size in that one but not the SLX EVO... Would have been sorely tempted with the SLX EVO at 999 eurotats.
It was the Al I was going to get though...0 -

Ekimike - I was actually talking to a guy riding one in a race the other week - it pretty well matched his experiences too as he found it hard to keep the power on whilst negotiating rougher roads. Care to share with us you experiences or are you just trolling?Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

My Canyon Ultimate CF frame arrived in the UK today. Currently in transit from Essex to Wiltshire. I should have it tomorrow morning. I seriously doubt it's going to be a as bone rattling as my current 7000 series Alu frame. The rough Wilts roads should be a good testing ground.
I may be munching on some serious humble pie by the time i build it up but nothing beyond 'a guy in a race' says it's going to be 'too stiff'. Sounds like you're trolling to me. 'A guy in a race the other week' - come off it.0 -
I’ve been considering buying one of these but have a few questions from my experience I would require 54 size with a 100mm stem and a spacer on the forks. Why do they sell with a predetermined stem? Also are the forks pre-cut?0
-
Hi Mick,
Don't know why they sell with pre-determined stems on the outlet section of the site. I tried to change mine but they wern't having any of it until I received the frame then I could send the old one back and swap it which is a bit long winded but worked ok.
Fork is pre cut and comes with three spaces on the headset.0 -

Well the frame arrived today. Surprised to get a carbon seatpost lol. Now to build it up. Unfotunately got to wait cos i'm off on holiday for 2 weeks tomorrow. Gotta order up the bits too. Was dead impressed with the little frame protection stickers and rubber cable sleeves they include. The torque wrench is.... well.... interesting.0
-
It works though, I only used it on the seatclamp. Pretty cool they bother with that kind of detail though.
Glad it turned up in time!0 -

I used the bike fit calc they had when you order. You take 3 measures and input them into the website you then get told your size. 56 was mine and I've had the bike fitted since aNd it Is the right size. The only set back is the stem being 1/4 and you can only use the ritchey with the fork for warranty reasons. For the money their hard to neat. Hope o was of help.eating parmos since 1981

Pic is not of a TT bike, it was only as I looked round the site I noticed the speedmax range was a TT0 -
Cheers msrdave you were able to change the stem size once you received the frame very odd was this free of charge. Also anybody got a Ultimate CF frameset seems a bit of a bargin for carbon frame and forks €8990
-
There was a 20 EURO charge for the stem swap. Not too bad considering they're like hens teeth to find yourself. The new one was a much nicer Ritchey stem, rather than the syntace.0
