    Dear reader,

the world is built on predjudices and stereotypes - and how awful that is - reality bites.

you might find it predjudiced and stereotyped what I have typed down here or you may not,(we should ask Nobody Else - does anyone know of their location?) you do not exactly say, instead you could possibly ask the question to others to find out what they think. this is called avoiding giving your own answer, trying to shift the focus from yourself but just saying enough to make another person seem wrong in their possible views or use of artistic expression and creativity - we wouldnt even have this lovely rapha mmm shiny shiny keyfob if it wasnt for the free expression of that creativity and artistic nature and then the ability to tap into potential markets to then proffer these artistic creative wares for a price within an open market.

and if you want predjudice & stereotypes - check out people such as bernard manning and roy 'chubby' brown and Andrew Watts - now thats offensive, as is the use of making another look 'extremely predjudiced' just by simply pointing a finger in that persons direction & using a 'loaded' comment - Does anyone find this reverse projection from one viewpoint to another viewpoint extremly prejudical? hmmm lets ponder.

I write it as comedy or possibly I'm being quite serious, you decide, that means I am laughing at myself as well as others and the irony and stupidity of a given situation - I have a creative freedom to do this, as I do not target anyone/a group of people specifically or individually - if someone chooses to take offence to what I say then that person has a problem they may need to address, in themselves, especially if they then decide to vent there anger back at me, its the equivilent of getting angry with the guy whose 'just doing his job' on the other end of the telephone - they can put the phone down on people now - maybe I should do the internet equivilent of hanging up on yourself ? its called ignoring you from now on , feel free to ignore me also, if it offends your delicate nature so.

who am I writing this to? ahh exactly! as 'the voice of big brother' often reminds me when it comes time for eviction on the reality TV show - you decide.

are we not all works of fiction?

    Greenberg quote:

Ivan Schrank(played by Rhys Ifans): youth is wasted on the young
Roger Greenberg(played by Ben Stiller): I'd go furthur,I'd go..life is wasted on people

I can most certainly say, without a doubt, as I have never met you, you most possibly are a work of fiction, until proven otherwise at least! and even then I might not exactly be so sure.

thankyou for taking the time reading this dear reader, remember , you have a completely free right to say what you choose to say, without fear, from those with hatred in their views who hide in plain view.

those that seek to belittle you by the use of loaded words, possibly studied NLP & other meme programming techniques - if you can spot them, be aware, they will try to attack you as an individual with their own predjudices, they cloak themselves under the pretence of all that is decent & honest with the world - godspeed you sir!.

    perhaps

Nobody Else(played by themselves): OM fugging gawd!! why am I even here? How did I come to be in this reality? seriously tho' I don't think this person, whomever they are, is extremly prejudiced, its just all so subjective, oh wow! look at the cute little keyfob that would look so good on my poochie's collar , I so have to buy one of those, Do you have it in green? please say you have it in green!!

Blimey, somebody really likes the sound of their own embittered voice.

Its expensive yes. and I do like Paul Smith stuff also as many have said but, I probably wouldn't be able to afford the things I have keys for after buying any of the new PS designed Rapha stuff!

Cannot deny the work he does, and it's their pricing strategy and it works for them. I think its only because as cyclists generally we are open to everything and anything related to cycling. Rapha are slowly moving away from this, with items like this on sale.
But hell it all helps their image i think, and even though I cant afford it per se, it sure does make me desire their products as a brand!

wow! - not been on the forum for a while and looking through some posts on a grey sunday morning - this one really caught the forum attention eh!

It's not that bad, I mean I don't like the keyring, but £54 isn't that bad from a brand like PS - if you want to get excited about overpriced keyrings and other "accessories" have a look at the proper luxury brands - dunhill, prada, gucci and, my favourite, Montblanc - then that £54 PS item will look like a proper bargain!

All Paul Smith has done is years ago he got a big set of felt tips from Woolworths, taped all of them together, drew some stripes and some gullible basterds thought it was ace and bought it.

Rapha keyfob for £54 ? Pile of crap.

Plus I'd not get it anyway due to the fact there is nowhere to attach it to on my Topman swimsuit.

Paul Smith = probably a bit of a lazy waste of space. Look at this fine example of his work; a shopping bag he designed for Architecture Week 2007. Admire the sheer, relentless, talentlessness of the design. Try to think of a 7 year old you know that would have actually done worse given ten minutes and some crayons......

The usual bollocks spouted by people who have no understanding of design.

Could a 7 year old have a grasp of negative white space? Could a seven year old have the talent and experience to understand the balance of colour. Could a seven year old have a grasp of the cultural context of the brief? I could go on but no doubt design is 'just' doing pretty pictures.

I doubt a 7 year old would be able to understand vanishing points and recreate the perspective in that way either.

Dudes, the images look like models from 3ds max or the architecture version of C4D. My niece is 3 and she can and does do images like that, when she plays on the software.

Anyway without seeing the original artwork we've got no idea that PS actually created the images., so it could have been done by a 7 year old.

I do understand design - I'm not sure Mr Smith does. I think maybe you are spouting the usual bollocks that people who fall for the whole 'Only the designers really understand design - everyone who doesn't like what I do is ignorant' thing do. Get it all the time with architecture and modern art........ Recognising pretentious cobblers when you see it does not indicate ignorance

I can understand how anything that you create can be considered 'art', but I don't see how such a simplistic design should be applauded. I'm not being a twit about it, I just do not see it.

I'm going to do some painting and I will post piccies of the paintings/constructions here. Bear in mind I have no training and I really don't know what I'm doing; however I will use how I feel to create. Have to get some 'materials' a quick root around the shed should provide something (again I'm not being a dick about this, I'm serious). Let's see what I can create.

When you can get a Paul Smith suit for £440 I think £54 for a key fob seems a bit preposterous. I don't really understand how that pricing structure is supposed to work.

There's a different logic at work in the gift-buying market.
  • peteinSQ I love the way you are thinking there but it's not about what something really should costs but how much they can charge for it and get away with it.

You know out on a clubrun I often hear people complaining about the ridiculous cost of most Rapha products. I haven't paid to much attention to the Rapha products myself and have never understood why people get so negative about stuff like this.

That was before I had a look at the Rapha website after reading this forum -- gosh it's becoming clearer now and I will judge the people that wear the Rapha kit in a whole different way now that I have seen what they pay for such kit.

Thanks for the education forum members -- I am going to sit down and have a cup of tea as I am in shock.

Anybody interested in my business plan to set up a key fob manufacturing company that only makes key fobs for cyclist? I am going to call the company AHPAR

mind you AHPAR will be even more expensive than Rapha -- after all we need to push the boundaries. My thinking is if someone is willing to pay £54 for a key fob or £35 for a t-shirt they might be tempted to pay twice as much, with some clever advertising and product placement.

Woundn't surprise me if Rapha don't already own the domain name AHPAR and have registered it as a trade mark, just to protect their interests.
