Now that's what I'm talking about.

Hopefully someone will try to morning glory it (make it hard early, that is)

Live video not for another 6 hours! Stage kicks off at 11.

Tailor made for Cancellara with that descent in case he loses time on the ascent. They need to stop making the course so he can win it. Hopefully we will see some riders get a lot of time before the descent.

A week long stage race should have a prologue, long TT, a summit finish, a middle mountain and three sprinter stages. IMO

A shame we cannot see the first two cols. I have only seen one televised start of a stage and it was SO interesting.

Six stages of the Tour will be televised in full by Eurosport apparently, start to finish.

On a general point - has this been the least interesting Tour this season? For some reason can't get any enthusiasm for it.

(watch today's stage be an absolute cracker now)

This is the kind of stage van Hummel would really suffer on.

Nice hefty climb out of the blocks, when the pace is hot trying to sort out the break, which would drop him immediately...

    Lovely.

    They're climbing slowly. Proper lightweight.

If they were real black and white era cyclists, someone would've already launched an epic solo attack.

Is this the BikeRadar equivalent of Godwin's law, or something?

A thread is effectively over as soon as someone mentions the doping.

    Christ on a bike Cyclingnews

Cyclingnews' Shane Stokes spoke to Oscar Pereiro at the start today. The Caisse d'Epargne rider was "happy with my form and with how things are going. Today's going to be a tough one and a good test of everyone's condition."

The 2006 Tour de France winner will be preparing for this year's July Grand Tour which - in the absence of team leader Alejandro Valverde - could hold some possibilities again for him.

Poor Pereiro. It's not much known but he was treated for depression a while back and frankly his presence in races is just good going.

Was always a good rider, but his career is bizarrely overshadowed by his Tour win.
It was odd from start to finish, even without the Floyd thing.

Not really as I remember a wet afternoon in France and I phoned the wife who told me that Stuart O'Grady was in a break 28 mins up.
I thought she was giving me a wind up but later I saw she hadn't.
I remember another 4 man break in the first week and some little unknown Italian almost won the TDF but lost the yellow jersey on the penultimate stage TT. (Claudio)
