Not sure why Contador is always playing down his chances. I guess he is naturally modest.
“It will be a difficult day because I haven’t trained so much with the new bike and it will be a full-hour’s effort,” he said. “I know that with my current shape and with a little-used bike, I cannot draw conclusions that are too accurate.”

He has never done well during the Dauphine long TT; soundly beaten last year, and 35th in 2007....

Laszlo Bodrogi is now apparently French?

One of his parents is French I think. He has French nationality. Changed last year I think - I remember the French commentators being happy about that.

No, it's because he's lived long enough in France to get French nationality. Same for BBox's Yuri Krivtsov (sp?), no French relations at all but residency/naturalisation.

OK, cool. I was actually more surprised by the fact that Laszlo Bodrogi is still riding. I thought he had retired for some reason.

Soler crash (again)? Showing 16minutes down at 2nd check. Elimination beckons before the mountains...

They've had some well dodgy roads in the Dauphiné this year.

I hope that's a technical glitch. He was 30th in the prologue and could have been exciting in the mountains.

Blimey, Menchov finished only 11 secs off EBH. Looking at the other times, EBH's was great.

WTF is up with Samu Sanchez? That's an awful time.

Millar faster than Biggles at the check....

EBH seems to have started fast and finished slow, so if Millar is up now it'll be interesting to see how he finishes.

I'm getting back ache watching Jerome Coppel riding. His position is far too low at the front.

    Go Millar! (PTP hat on).

Jurgen van den Broeck also going very well... could be interesing for the GC, especially with Horner and Sammy S riding crap

Soler must have had a bad crash to lose so much time. That's him eliminated, by a country mile.
Which begs the question: If he's that hurt, why carry on when you've got no chance to make the cut? :?

Magic, just because you are watching on ES HD, that does not mean the Dauphiné is being broadcast in HD. Even if the picture is better than SD, which indeed it is.

    How was that?

    Excellent. Thanks.

Sorry for being an A/V purist bore. I've had Sky HD for so long my HD box is on it's last legs.
