Nice, not too tarty (after all, you've got the Marin for that) but functional.

Of course, it's been that long since you've ridden off-road (proper off-road) you'll probably fall off and kill yourself on your first ride. So I call dibs on what's left of this.

LOL - you got first dibs Cat ;)

Nice Geo to it, I dropped the 2step whilst out and makes a hell of a difference, drops the front end massively, so will be good for long climbs...

Yep, wanted to keep this one 'real' without tarty bits as this is going to be the workhorse!!!

Next weekend I am off to Bedgbury hopefully with my pal and a couple of his mates, and Ill get some pics up ;)

It's not that it's not tarty. Of course it is. But it's a sensible level of tarty. Good combination of form AND function.

OK sure, my charity ride has been cancelled so Bedgers should be in the diary :P And have you ever had Juicy 5s to compare?, as If I have problems with mine (Juicies) on the Torrent, I may swap to XTs seeing as I probs don't need the power of Saint.

Hmm OK well the Juicies will do for a few months (they'll have to actually  )

D'you think XT's with 203/185mm will be OK for DH including Morzine/Fort William, at 10 stoneish?

 It's a tie up between Elixirs and XT's, or Saints/Tech V2's if I can afford them.

i think elixirs will be better as your norco doesn't look that good with just white stem and bars. but thats my opinion

The XTs will be better than the entry level Elixirs..... but on par with the CRs.....

Nice modulation, great lever shape and easy to bleed.

I have CR Carbons and the XTs and at a push I would gavour the XTs... BUT that's me and brakes are a personal thing IMO.

V2s are great, but not worth the money (had 2 sets of them) and the Saints are overkill IMO...

+ white pedals and seatclamp  Want to keep the white to a minimum, and the seatclamp finishes it off nicely.

Yeah, I like the look + reviews of XT's. Keeping in mind any changes/upgrades on the Norco are going on a DH FS next spring, so anything that may be overkill/too much atm, may be just right next year :P

i think the ex823 might be a bit overkill. how about ex721 rims instead? very tough and cheaper

  • I had a look in Evans yesterday and the Mavic Crossline is a good wheel (sturdy, looks good and is fine for my weight) also, I am not doing massive drop offs nor anything massively gnarly so I doubt very much that they would give out on me TBH.

They are meant for Enduro and Fr light.

They at the moment are looking like a winner!
