Oh dear, something tells me our favourite LA fan was too busy California wet dreamin', to have bothered watching a triffling Giro stage.

Nice to read that carlos is still upbeat. Hopefully, the Leakygas boys will feel the same.
Cuddles needs Vino to stay in contention, or he could have difficulty marking their dual threat, come week 3........

whats the earliest he can take the jersey....?

Who, Evans? He could take it tomorrow if Vino doesn't go well. The way Vino races, he has the potential to blow up at any time.

    not what I meant

the earliest he can take the jersey and defend it till verona

if he takes the jersey today (Stage eight) he has to defend for 2 weeks thou Garmin with Farrar for the points jersey may help in the following week a bit

when is it safe for him to don the jersey given consistent time gaps (thou obviously the larger the margin the safer it is)

"We started off really fast and it started pouring rain after a few kilometres. It was as tough as a Paris-Roubaix, I couldn't see a thing for the last 20, too much mud in my eyes, my front wheel was sliding. It was a great show! But what pain and suffering." - VINO

"I baptised Evans' wheel, but this racer is outrageously explosive and when he took off, there really was nothing left to do. Vinokourov and Cadel were clearly better." - CUNEGO

"It was an incredible day, all those years on the mountain bike paid off. After Nibali fell, I managed to get back in (alone, Editor's Note) on Vinokourov and Garzelli. The plan was to attack, but I didn't hope that I would wind this stage up so well. I lost alot of time in Holland due to falls and other things that were not my fault. Now, I'm back in the race." - EVANS

"Scarponi slid right in front of me, I couldn't have avoided him anyway. At first, I couldn't even pedal, then it got a little better. Reacting up on Terminillo, I have to get back in shape first, then I'll think about it." - NIBALI

"We chose to go together, because recuperating would have been impossible on our own. This was a bad day. Everything is still up in the air for me." - BASSO

I'm intrigued my Millar's comment from yesterday give the hissy-fit he threw on the Angrilu stage of the Vuelta a few years ago.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Out of interest, because I can't be bothered to look, has Vino ever started Paris-Roubaix?

Probably because he didn't get hit by a team car this time...

I'm not a fan of Millar but I think he has matured and isn't such a prima donna as he was when he thought he could win anything - which is probably why he doped.

Not to my knowledge, although Sean Kelly said during the live coverage that he thought Vino could win it.

I just caught up with from a recording ES HD, having been away for the week end. Awesome stage!

Fantastic win for Evans, worked well with Vino too. Wonder if we are likely to see that alliance again during this Giro?

I think Sean's famous dry humour was on display there...

He does have a dry sense of humour, best appreciated when taken in the context in which it is uttered.
