Underway.

Strade Bianche, hills and it's been raining recently.

Could be a critical stage.

At 4pm we'll all be sitting there with the sick bowls as Vino romps away with it.

I have backed Millar in the PTP, hoping he uses his racing nous, form and love of the wet conditions to dramatically snatch the pink jersey.

No chance of it happening though.

    It would be nice.

Anyone else noticed how all the pink jersey holders have been candidates for the overall...

Sounds like the last 20km are very tough / hairy.

Where on earth are Cervelo? Sastre is right up at the front of the group and everyone else looks like they're soft pedalling :?

I remember a similarly damp stage to Bergamo a few years ago (2007?) where a number of contenders (Garzelli, Simoni, Savoldelli) attacked and got away in the final 50kms, which caused a big panic in Di Luca's team, who had to chase to get the time gap down to a safe margin.

Very interesting stage after that, with one of the Schleks crashing on a descent and having to chase the tail of the peloton as well.

Whereas today has strada bianchi near the finish, that day it had a cobbled climb into Bergamo that initially favoured Simoni, but Garzelli never gave up (typical of him) and caught and passed him to win in the final metres.

    Anyway....

Big, big gap. Astana once again offer their services to make a split stick.

I don't know if you guys know this, because it's not really mentioned very often, but did you know Dario Cioni's grandparents are from Reading?

Both Sastre and Tondo confirmed in the front group, so double phew.

Maybe a few years ago when Britain had no cyclists and the "David" bit made him easier to claim as one of ours. Now he's just Dario.
