Were a bit trickey to find. I'd seen them last week whilst searching for something else, so took a couple of searches of jockey wheels, then going into seller's shops to find them. Bought them from this guy, but they're not showing in the listings now:

Yep, direct, all the way from Italy I think

Watch the pricing on the site as well, I saw 150 and thought bargain, then realised that was euros  even more bargainish, just the postage is 13 quid or something silly

You want to know a real bargain? I took the mounts, hose shorteners and rotors- about £90 worth of stuff all in- and then sold the brakes alone for £143 on ebay  They are great brakes.

Sweet. I sometimes think I paid well over the odds for my Lumicycle lights. :(

I've just ordered 2 X Racing Ralph tyres, in 2.1 flavour.
  • i maybe completely missing something on the old dx website but, can someone link me up with the lights i keep hearing mentioned on there (such as those above) i can't find anything but the rear for some reason

No worries the_prophet, there is a thread in buying advice, its a sticky at the top of the page, but i went for this assortment

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.44459
Magiocshine mj 808 for the bars, 3 mode so I dont have to scroll through modes and what looks like the best sealed of the battery packs on the website

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14443
Ultrafire c1 torch for on the helmet to give more throw light

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26247
Protected cell 18650 batteries, I ordered 3 packs, can never have enough spares

    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1251
    ultrafire charger

there are slightly cheaper magicshines, one with a uk plug such as this model
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30864 The first one I posted seems to have a better quality battery pack and less modes to scroll through, which makes it worth the extra $2 and the hassle of finding a us adapter plug

  • what a response! Thanks for that Gazlar, much appreciated.

I'm using an old dinnotte light i bought a while ago and it's ok but it's just not really upto riding through properly dark areas.

No probs the-prophet I have no lights at the min, other than a train emergency headlamp, which is far too bulky for riding

The stuff i've picket there is based on the opinions of others, I cant speak for any of it personally, but its what seems to come recommended

    Here:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-CYCLE-BIKE-HE ... 4aa5e230bf

Note that the helmet mount ones are different from the bar mount ones (the orientation of the cutout).

Also, if your light has one of those wrist strap thingymabobs, double loop that around one of the vents of the helmet (preferably at the back as a torch to the face isn't nice) to prevent you losing your torch if you hit the uber-gnarly stuffs. I'm using a Tesco torch and have had 'slippage' issues.

Gaz those lights are fantastic and yes el cap you did spend way too much as these £50 jobbies are awesome to the power of sick!

My brother spent a fortune last winter on some led&hallogen set up and all have now is the DX one and a little EL530 cat eye and it's awsomme in the darkest woods.

You can just about make out the wrist straps looped through the Velcro straps.

This is how I previously mounted one, flattening out one of the bar mounted adaptors:

Again, you can see what I mean about the wrist strap.

I've probably spent the best part of £600 on Lumicycle stuff. That said, I have 2 LED lamps, which will burn for over 6 hours with the endurance battery, 4 halogen lamps (with various wattage bulbs from a 1W LED to a 35W jobby), a helmet mount for one of the bulbs complete with cable extension, a small battery that fits into the top of my Camelbak to supply power to the helmet lamp and a NimH battery. That said, I can't fault the quality or the excellent customer service I've received from them.

850 lumens each from the LEDS is very bright and I'll get a good 6 hours from the large battery I have. Racing at SITS, I only needed the flood lamp running at the 600 lumen setting on the bars and a 20W Halogen spot on the helmet to see where I was going. I've used both LED lamps when training, but TBH, its pretty much overkill.

I've also got an LED one from Cutter Electronics (in Australia) that's close to 1000 lumens, but I buggered up the switch on it, so it's permanently set on full power. It's shape lends itself to being a helmet mounted lamp, but it's a tad too heavy IMO:

    Cutter light on it's own:

    Daylight.jpg

(apologies for the crap photo, but trying to do a hand held long exposure pic isn't easy, but that's a completely pitch black trail, no street lights.)

Just ordered a Mobi pressure washer with which to do battle with winter. And if anyone crosses me I'l use it to blast all the grease out of their hubs.
