How far do you commute

If I go the direct route its 3.5 miles and I do this 5 days a week. Now the evenings are getting lighter will be doing a few longer routes home again.
Its all in Southampton so only really do the longer routes if I finish at 4pm to beat rush hour nutters.0 -
13.5 miles each way every day I'm in the office (4 days per week currently).
Takes between 50 and 75 minutes depending on weather - about 60/40 canal path/roads.0 -
Another short one here, door2door is 5.5 miles. Which over the winter meant I was only just getting warm, so started including a loop round Isle of Dogs to make it worthwhile.
(Pub crawl extends the evening commute )Dalston --> Canary Wharf, and all pubs inbetween0 -
Daily 8 mile round trip, then once a week skip the train and do an 80 miler round trip.
Will try and up that to twice a week if this weather holds ...

Just starting out, rather conveniently I do exactly 10 miles each way and the journey time varies between 40 and 50 minutes. I'm on a MTB though, really need to get some slick tyres for it, much cheaper than buying a road bike.0

31 km / 19,27 miles, one way. Usually takes about 1 hour, but highly depends on the wind, as it's out on the country side and the wind blows quite alot around the west part of Denmark. On a very windy day, with headwind it can take up to 2 hours, with tailwind less than a hour.
Does it every now and then, on and off. But I keep my weekly kilometres up, just haven't got all used to commute yet.___________________
I'll get there somehow0 -
13.5 miles each way, East Sheen to Canary Wharf, 4 days a week when not travelling on business.0
-
40 miles each day, return.
Every day. (very occasional exception).
200 miles per week.
The marathon training of 50 miles running per week on top is starting to tire me a little!Commute: Langster -Singlecross - Brompton S2-LX

commute home 5.9. I actaully only work 3 days a week but long days, my days off include imaginary commutes though which are 30ish mile round trips
Have one day off the bike a week0 -
It varies. The full distance from my house is about 21 miles, give a or take a bit if I take the busy, un-fun A roads around Arundel, or the busier, faster, even less fun A24 dual carriage-way. I don't often do the full distance, and usually drive some of the distance with bike in boot to my parents' place and ride from there: about 7 miles, increasing as the evenings get lighter and warmer - I did about 10 miles in this morning and 13 miles on the way back through some flipping beautiful countryside on quiet roads. I do mean beautiful, the commute to work this morning http://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/work ... id=2190797 was a soul-enriching experience. The above is a post in a forum on the Intertubes, and should be taken with the appropriate amount of seriousness.0

15.9 on the way in and 20.3 or 13(seems really short nowadays) if I'm in a rush on the way home
so 150-170 a week I think is fair

Got a few ways but at most it's 10 miles around trip at shortest it's 7. varies in speed as well the 7 miles has almost no traffic lights and is a lot faster so is half the journey time, but not as nice a ride.0

3.5 miles each way, it is shocking how few bikes make such a short journey as there are 100's of people making the same commute as me.We need a bigger boat.

Used to do 15 miles each way 3 or 4 days a week (summer months only) and will soon be starting again for the first time in 15 years - 20 miles each way, probably 3 days a week unless I have meetings or site visits. Fortunately most of the ride is pancake flat along the Gwent levels but the wind may be tough at times.0

I do about 11 miles each way, Barnet to Bank 4 or 5 times a week. Takes me 45 minutes on the way in and 60 on the way home pretty much.
I am worried about how slow I am compared to everyone else in the forum, but I am a big fat man, with commuting being my only ride.
I blame Archway Hill for the discrepancy between my in and out times :-)0 -

I think you are allowed to be slow going up Archway Hill. 45 minutes for 11 miles into central London doesn't sound too shabby.1985 Mercian King of Mercia - work in progress (Hah! Who am I kidding?)

I think it's not so much actually riding the distance as other things in your life that can determine which distance is workable.
At the moment I'm only doing 2-7 miles each way depending, but a few years ago I did 11 each way every day. Occasionally I would get pretty tired by the end of the week but a bigger issue for me was a certain lack of flexibility that it added to my day, and sometimes it made socialising a bit tricky.
But that was when my social life revolved around town but I was living in the sticks. I'd be reluctant to do that again but wouldn't mind the 22 miles a day in a different situation.0 -

8 miles each way. Usually manage 3 or 4 days cycling a week in summer and drop down to 1 or 2 cycle commutes per week in winter. Last couple of weeks have been fantastic, has felt warm and sunny and have really enjoyed the trip in.
