I like the way Charlie 64 trolled the question then buggered off to leave us all to fight it out.

I've also been trying to listen to Noah and the Whale this week due to upcoming gig, but it is so soothing it sends me to sleep. So what about sleeping on the commute, is this acceptable?

I saw that lot back in 2007 - by accident. Not my sort of thing tbh. I told my wife that they were band most likely to be used in a phone ad at some point - I was not wrong.

I listen to radio 2 or classic FM via my mobile. Doesn't go up loud enough to block out the sound of the traffic.

Did you just use the words "tune" and "Rammstein" in the same sentence?

I'm tempted to blame Spotify, but I seem to wake up with some completely random song lodged in my head most mornings, so I'm usually singing what fragments of it I know all the way to work.
I'd rather not listen to music on the bike, I don't really any reason to.

  • I usually use the 'genius' function on the ipod. I'll bung on something loud and see what happens, today it was:

    Soundgarden - Rusty Cage
    Janes Addiction - Just Because
Pearl Jam - Jeremy (best not to sing along to this one, you get some odd looks!)
    Porno for Pyros - Pets
Alice in Chains - Check My Brain
Skid Row - Slave to the Grind (nicely appropriate!)
    Boardman Team Carbon

    Cube LTD Race

a range of music, anything from a bit of classical (although hearing Zadok the Priest while hurtling down a hill is a scary moment when you think it might be the last thing you hear) right through to stuff by the Fartellies and Franz Ferdinand.

    favs at the moment
    Lady GaGa
    Michael Buble
    Franz Ferdinand

Now, as much as I am against cycling on roads and listening to music... I have occassionaly been hurtling down the West Highland Way on my MTB listening to Mark Knophler and the theme from "Local Hero", it just compliments the scenery and atmosphere perfectly.

Are those guys still around? I'd be surprised if any of em made it to 40 (apart from clarkee obviously who was already a bit of a granddad back then)

Occasionally I dust off the walkman and relive many a great set from the Music Maker, Loftgroover, HMS etc. Been meaning to rip them tapes for years but they might just send me crazy on the commute.

Today was a live recording from The Doors which includes a near 20 minute version of The End and a cracking medley of Poontang Blues / Build Me a Woman / Sunday Trucker
