    ahhh ok

Pokerface I was looking for someone with a carbon leg to identify you. Didnt spot you tho. but then wasnt really looking too hard. Might have got some funny looks if i'd spent the whole time staring at blokes calves... they'd think i was there for the wrong reason..

    How was your race?

The carbon leg is hidden away! I don't put it on show and wear tights, so most people wouldn't know anyway.

My race was worse than Nap's in some ways, but better in others. I have lower expectations than he does - and only one leg to power myself.

So, for me it was a success and a great starting point for the rest of my season. I plan to be at the paracycling world championships in August, so have a lot of time to peak!

    Disaster?

I couldn't clip in at the start, I have new shims and I just can't get used to them and by the time I had clipped in I was on my own and everyone else was on the first corner!

Spent a while going balls out to rejoin the group. Hung on for a bit but was too blown...

Settled in with a group, lapped a few myself.

Still, I finished and wasn't last!

There were a couple of crashes (both caused by rider no. 51, he was somewhat vilified) but I managed to avoid them.

Produced my best ever 5, 20 and 60 minute power outputs by some way. So some positives to take.

That hairpin at the bottom is a tight little bugger though!

    What happened to QuadPowerTM :D

QuadPowertm was there. It's just not as strong in real life as on the internet.

It was a tough race - and an easy race, depending on how you rode it.

If you managed to hang onto the bunch, it was fairly easy. But if you lost a wheel, a 5 foot gap would quickly become a HUGE gap due to a strong wind.

I suffer from a lack of power sprinting out of the corners - so was always chasing to get on the back. But once there, I had no problem.

I think the old 'hour of power' workout would be perfect training for a race like this one.

I was shocked by the pace today, so were the higher ability riders watching.

Well done to all who finished today, I wouldn't have gone the distance.

My mate pulled out after 20 mins and had 25.7 mph average (he was in the bunch).

I got lapped about 5 times by the lead riders - and finished with around 22mph average.

But I let up on the pace a few times when I found myself in no man's land -waiting for the next group of riders to come along.

Would have easily been faster for me if I kept going full gas all the way around.

The start was quick, no gentle start. As it started to break up within the first 20 mins, 20 riders maintained a decent pace. It did seem to be the same faces consistently lapping everyone else. As they all passed different riders tagged on to the passing group.....

That really wound me up, cus people were joining onto the back of the lead group it was impossible to tell who was still in the race. Poor Form IMO.

I was scarred sh!tless going through some of those corners. Sooooooooo happy I didn't crash and take anyone else out. But just held my line, looked for other riders and tried not to cut anyone off!

Sorry to hear about those that crashed, etc. Saw a few bodies lying about.

You should do the wheelers training session on a Tuesday. It's quality stuff. Everyone gets owned by a 16yr old though.

I have thought that is the way forward, chain gangs and lots of them.

Owned by a 16 year old? What are you on about?!

My trainer reckons it would actually not be that hard for me to beat that 16 year old eventually.

There were about 80+ there today, was very windy up the finishing straight.

I had a better result than last week, stuck to the back of the bunch for about 20 minutes, realise now that I have absolutely no sprint, coming out of the bottom corner I was losing 2 or 3 bike lengths on everyone, but have got lots of power to get up the finishing straight where I'd make back loads of places (but it was so tiring there's no way I could keep it up for long). Should of stuck to TTing :)

Very happy despite being lapped, I can't wait for my first proper road race!

I'll be back there next week - but riding in the first disability race - 25 cyclists (a few tandems and the rest road bikes), plus 8 handcyclists. Race will be run right after the Cat 3/4 race. Should be mayhem - especially if the handcyclists encounter the regualr cyclists going into the hairpin.

Plus this will be the first ever race for some of the handicapped guys.

Wouldnt like to be pilot a tandem through those hairpins, now THAT would be scary.
