Cant find anything useful on the organisers site..

Anyone know the course?

Any other nuggets of info?

Thanks, Shep

First race, so 4th cat. Not expecting much from it, just a training ride if anything. Looking forward to it.

    Me.

If I can get childcare and my body stops feeling ridiculously fatigued.

It's my first race. (Technically it isn't, I did a TLI when I had only been cycling 6 months. I was dropped a mile after the neutral zone, didn't have a clue!!)

    Highly likely.

However I'm about 30-40kg heavier than the rest of you!

fair point, though i dont feel like a racing snake after seeing FF's post in pro race that Wiggins is on 1500cal per day!

Looking forward to racing guys from the forum! I'll be the one doing too much work on the front...

I'll be there with bells on. First race of the year for me. Also not expecting much except a good training ride and hopefully to hang onto the bunch for a few laps!

cant say i'm looking forward to those hairpins...though they look a bit more forgiving than Hillingdon's

    So hang on a minute?

    You've been racing already...

    And you won a race?!?

And I am expected to be that standard already

    Great...

It's going to be a 1hr30 minute journey for a 2 minute race...

There can't be another sport in existence that is so tough at beginner level...

I need to get my act together to give you some help......

But when was the last time you saw someone built like Sastre working for someone the size of Greipel?!

Why so negative? you're coming off a broken leg, it's only early march etc etc

Going balls out to hang onto the back of the group will be the best thing you can do, fitness wise. It's meant to be fun, enjoy it ffs.

yeah... but it wasnt a particularly spectacular race...

knowing me i'll do something rash like break off the front, get tired and watch the group hurtle by!

I have 2hrs on the train.. stupid lack of car... stupid lack of drving licence.. :?

+1 - I learned a lot doing that last year and gained a lot of fitness. Just trying (in vain) to hang on. And kept going right to the end even when lapped.

    Builds character too.

Had a disaster, started too far back and was basically chasing from the first corner. Was hesitating on the first 2 laps and not sprinting flat out, so it was pretty much a time trial for me. Also my cornering is pretty bad.

I passed napd and said "come on nap" but he didn't hang on, at about halfway I got lapped and pulled up.

I'll be back there next week. :D

    Disaster?

I couldn't clip in at the start, I have new shims and I just can't get used to them and by the time I had clipped in I was on my own and everyone else was on the first corner!

Spent a while going balls out to rejoin the group. Hung on for a bit but was too blown...

Settled in with a group, lapped a few myself.

Still, I finished and wasn't last!

There were a couple of crashes (both caused by rider no. 51, he was somewhat vilified) but I managed to avoid them.

Produced my best ever 5, 20 and 60 minute power outputs by some way. So some positives to take.

That hairpin at the bottom is a tight little bugger though!

I saw you clipping in at the start, at least you finished, I couldn't be bothered (and my mate had pulled up due to injury so I sat with him).... wish I had finished though, it was FREEZING.

Didn't like that corner much either.

perhaps I will send rider 51 a bill for my front wheel that will have to be trued now.

Got caught up in the 1st crash, skidded into the heap of riders, then spent 3 laps hooning it to get back on. It was horrendous, just when I caught them, the buggers on the front would sprint out of the hairpin.

I guess that was when my HR was hitting 202...

After I got back on it took me about 5 laps to recover but just couldnt get my rhythm back. Was feeling great before, even foolishly went off the front!

Looking forward to race 3 when I'll return a meaner, tactically smarter sheptastic.

Napd were you in Macclesfeild wheelers kit?

Well - I enjoyed it. Like Nap - I didn't exactly do well, but finished and gained some fitness and experience by doing so.

Learned that I don't need to bridge a gap between groups with a solo effort early in the race. Blew up doing that and was never the same afterwards.

Just need some more patience and trust that groups will come back together without my monster efforts - and to work on sprinting out of those corners!

Will be back there in 2 weeks....

Both Nap and I were in Macc kit. Nap is bigger than me though.
