Album Cover Nostalgia........

Not the first album I bought - but nearly
or this - when i look at it I can remember the interior of the Virgin store in Plymouth and how it smells - and even the smell of the vinyl when I first took the record out of the sleeve. Buying this record led to '5 years' of being a Bowie obsessive.

I spent a lot of time studying these covers as a ten-year-old...

I discovered Bowie thanks to this
+1 for the sensory associations surrounding albums.
I distinctly remember getting my first "walkman" for Christmas one year (an Aiwa with auto reverse and a 3 band graphic - woah, the technology!) buying "Slippery When Wet" (I know  ) with some christmas money and walking home listening to mobile music for the first time. I can still smell that tape and remember the walk and the rain very clearly."Impressive break"

Well I'm a bit embarrassed to say that my first proper independent purchase (from Woolies, naturally) was an LP by Mr Gadd. Even at the time I think my parents expressed concern...
Dear god, I've just found it on ebay:

What an album! What a cover.
Not the first one I bought but pretty early in the vinyl buying days.
Prog lives on.

Evidently, I might be 'The Ancient of Days' here on this thread. Even back then I didn't think much of the cover art, but the content was magical. I've still got them, a bit gnarled and chewed, but playable, had I something to play them on.

Tricky between this and Simple Minds Alive & Kicking - but I was a huge INXS fan, so I'll stick with this as being the most memorable for my teens:

May as well choose the first LP I bought. All looks v.exotic with Jerry Hall doing what she does best (ahem). Truth is the shot was taken just below South Stack Lighthouse on Anglesey! True believers can follow the tale here...QI...

Wish I had it together to post a picture.
How about Frank Zappa's "Weasels Ripped my Flesh"
or anything by Zappa for that matter.0
