Doing this with a few friends the last week in april
so my goal will be to finish it and raise money for the charity I am doing it for

  • South Downs Way in a day.

100 miles of ups and downs.

Sometime mid June when the weather is right ..........
  • C2C in June

    Do more 100K Sportives

Do a 100mile Sportive (at least)

    We live in hope. :?
The older I get the faster I was
  • ride abroad somewhere hilly
  • Double Century ride in Death Valley National Park CA
Did the single century 2 years ago and really want to go do the double. There are three century rides in the 6 weeks leading up to it in this area that I'll sign up for.
My other goal is to get down to 155lb. After my cancerous kidney was removed 2 years ago I topped out at 182 and have had a hell of a time dropping weight.
  • I have numerous goals for 2010:
    1) Stop falling off bike; I have been off 4 times in 5 months, all of them have been car related, and I have had no serious damage done :)
    2) Enter a race; I am 17, and I have never done any competitive sport before, so I hope to do a race or two, maybe a TT? Undecided.
    3) Join a cycle club; I am hoping to join Cambridge Cycle Club this week as I have been putting it off because of the bad weather.
    4) Enter a sportive; I have not yet done one, so would like to do at least one this year to see what they are like.

So 2010 is going to be a busy year; AS's, Driving Test, lots of cycling, and lots of earning money to be able to afford my cycling.

London to Brighton - There and back

    http://www.oetztaler-radmarathon.com/

12000 have applied for 4500 places so far, find out 5/3/10 if I'm in and not sure I want to be as it's mental hard and the biggest ride I've ever done was the Tour Ride last year, 90 odd miles through the Peak District.

    Maybe try a mini Triathlon
    25th August 2013 12hrs 37mins 52.3 seconds 238km 5500mtrs FYRM Never again.

Currently and if you have one, when you ride what is your main goal would you say for 2010? Is it to simply enjoy the process of riding, or to improve your technique, climbing, general fitness, or maybe to enter or win sportives, races etc?

Mine is to get super strong at climbing so I can hammer Morzine-Avoriaz, the Joux Plane and the Ramaz in good times this July and then maybe do a couple of sportives in the autumn.

I did the Joux Plane and Morzine-Avoriaz last year and it was great fun. Also went up the Colombiere and watched the Tour come through. Fantastic day that was.

E2E ride was great, covered 1022 miles in 9 days, fully loaded with panniers. Got soaked a few times though(thank you scottish summer)
    1:10:59 on a sprint Duathlon
1:03:52 Sprint Tri, beating Jenson Button
Got some great riding in with mates on the mountain bikes, but never enough
    22:37 10TT

In addition to all of what i wanted to achieve, I decided to enter the Gorrick 12 hour enduro on the August bank holiday weekend and go at it Solo... Amazingly I got 4th Place which was a great shock.

A great year for me, no injuries until it was the last race when I got severe blisters in a triathlon.

Hopefully with that the club BAR championship, though that will mean a cracking season all round to achieve the club BAR.

I actually did better than expected.

10m TT - 20:29 with several rides below 21 mins on different courses
50m TT - 1:49:00 so well under what I thought possible, best 50mTT ride was on a local course as well with a 1:50:55
100m TT - 3:48:24 and equal 9th in the National 100, surpassed all expectations
12 hr TT - 276.5 miles, new Kent Cycling Association record, and won the event, by far the best ride of the season.

Means I won the club BAR, and won the Kent Cycling Association BAR as well, so the season was a massive success. Big thumbs up to BeaconRuth for coaching me as well.

    Mine were

    1) Achieve a functional threshold power of 340W.
    2) Do the necessary rides to qualify for the BBAR. Never done a 12hr so no predictions, just want to finish one.
    3) Do at least 5 events in the Rudy Project series in order to have a shot at the overall.
    4) 100 in sub 3:40
    5) No other specific time goals, although it'd be cool to break 21'00 on the club 10 course (current PB is 21'12, so it's probably the most achievable)

    Results

    1) Didn't get there in the end. I got within 10W a couple of times but I was after a bit more consistency than that. It's now next year's goal (with a bit of help from Ric Stern)

    2) Did 3 x 50s, 2 x 100s and 1 x 12hr. The latter was the most satisfying as I managed over 280 miles in my first attempt, which I think was the third best 12hr mileage of the season. My 50 (1:45:08) and 100 (3:42:50) weren't as quick as last season though. As a result I ended up 5th in the BBAR.

    3) I did 5 Rudy Project events (very well organised, can highly recommend them) and managed 4 x 3rds and 1 x 4th for 2nd overall. No way I was ever going to get near Matt Bottrill.

    4) Fail. To do that I needed everything to go right on the day and it didn't in both my 100s.

    5) Got close. 21'18 on a good day with mediocre power but got badly held up twice. And 21'19 on a bad day with good power. Another one for next year.

  • Mine were as follows

3 Top 10s in Road Races

    Go under 24 mins for a 10

    Under the hour for 25

Under 6:30 for the Fred Whitton.

Get through the Pyrenees Coast to Coast in reasonable shape

1). Failed and failed hard. My first 2 I did everything I could and was pretty happy with my ride despite the lack of results. The next 2 were really poor. So much so that I decided I don't enjoy it anymore and knocked it on the head.

    2). Got down from 24:06 to 23:36

    3) Last 25 of the year saw me get 59:57. Annoyingly a couple of weeks later I rode the same course in training with no aero helmet and sat up to have a drink 3 times... and did 59:40.

    4) 6:45 in the end, I did get the fastest time at the Princes Risboro sportif though, so can't complain.

    5) Came through it really well, including thee fastest time up teh Tourmalet that the company running the trip had ever had, despite the road being in the process of being surfaced!

Overall, a B+ for the year I think!

My target - to be much more competitive in the annual ride friends do through Europe's biggest mountain ranges. Did it for the first time last year and loved it.

    How did I do?

Managed to get a job in London in June, which put any notions of training/ taking a holiday to go do it. Barely been on a bike since June.

Target for next year: Find enough time and space to get out on my bike regularly again.

Cycle up Garburn pass from the Western side without putting foot down FAIL

    2, Complete a few sportives/audaxs.
3, Great Notts 50 miler on the tandem with the Mrs to be.

1 - I'm now happily married and the photos look great :)
2 - Didn't do as many organised rides as I'd hoped but did all the ones I really wanted to do. They were harder than last year but I knew they would be with my reduced training time and I still completed them all.
3 - Had great fun doing the Great Notts on the tandem and also took the tandem on honeymoon with us :)

As a bonus we're now in the process of moving house so my commute will be longer and with more options for extensions. So, lack of training time is now less of a concern and I can now start thinking about aims for 2011.

    I wanted to:

    1. Break 24 mins on my club 10 - FAIL. 24'12 was as close as I got.
    2. Break 60 mins for a 25m TT - SUCCESS. 58'30
    3. Make my National Team - SUCCESS.
    4. Race in the World Championships - SUCCESS

Next year the goals are a lot loftier.

Good luck to everyone in their endeavours!
