  • Another vote for Angus Young. He's made simple and stupid into an art form.
I'm also glad I managed to see Stevie Ray Vaughn once before he died.

And a couple nobody else has mentioned Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree and Alan Morse from Spock's Beard.

Firstly, for all you 'Jeff Healeys' out there, this is the title of the thread.........

'Yes, it's a Favourite Guitarists thread'

Secondly, having actually seen live many of the great guitarists, plenty of which are included in this thread (how many of you can say that?) I, and many others, happen to think he is a very underrated guitarist.

Thirdly, I'm adding Rory Gallagher to my list.

  • A metal fan goes to heaven. St.Peter says, "You know, we've got a band going, they're rehearsing now". He takes him through and sure enough, there's John Bonham on drums, Phil Lynott on bass and Bon Scott on vocals.

The metal fan says, "Hang on though, who's that on lead, it looks like Richie Blackmore but he's not dead?"

St Peter responds, "No that's God, he thinks he's Richie Blackmore".

As much as I dislike Extreme, he good!

He's so good he makes Navarro look as good (or as poor) as me when he played for Perry Farrell!

The bad thing about Extreme is Gary Cherones voice, the music in the last two albums is far better than the tat they released in the early 90's.

Good shout. Clearly under rated, at least here.

Also surprised how few mentions for Johnny Marr .

May be I missed it but no mention for Keef Richards? I know he's not some showman-technician but just the perfectly judged, laid-back stuff on Let it Bleed and Exile on Mainstreet is pretty wonderful.

All that said, I'm afraid Jimmy Page is still my favourite.

Oi, that wasn't a wobbly, life's too short. Just giving credit where credit's due (imho) and as I've met him on a number of occasions, I'd just like to say he's a great, down to earth, bloke.

Bet you don't dislike his daughter though, Hoppy1!!
