Danni Evans from Alestorm (mainly because I got a picture and a chat with him before a show!)

Janick Gers, Dave Murray and Adrian Smith

Kirk Hammett, not the best technical metal guitarist, but just an all round solid metal lead guitarist

    Jimmy Page

Jimi Hendrix, probably the person that showed the world just what could be done with six strings, a plank of wood and some pick ups!!

Tony Iommi, saw him play with heaven and hell, last year at Wacken Open Air, there were much faster guitarists that weekend, but none that played with such feeling!!

Les “Fruitbat” Carter from Carter USM/ Abdoujaparov

Not only a great guitarist, but also a cycling fan (hence the name of his band) and a top, top bloke.
  • Muddy Waters- great acoustic bluesman, then invented the electric blues
    Son House- Taught him.
    John Lee Hooker
    Richard Thompson
    Stuart Braithwaite

Bruce Springsteen is way underrated too!

    Jimi Hendrix
    Bernard Butler
    Graham Coxon
    The two Jonnies (Marr&Greenwood)
    Josh Homme
    Peter Green
    John Squire
    Jimmy Paige
Angelo Bruschini ( Blue Aeroplanes/Massive Attack)
Mark Knopfler (m.o.r but superb technique)

.....Francis Rossi, give over! Valentino Rossi is probably a better guitarist. One handed, while on one wheel over the finish line.
  • Have either of these been mentioned:

    Nuno Bettencourt

    Tom Morello

I'll throw in George Harrison and Billy Duffy

    I do feel that

    stevie ray vaughn
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAG-kX_IlUw

    needs a mention.

    credentials
used heavy guage 0.13 strings and base frets to make playing harder so you can hear in the tone.
had to use super glue on his finger tips and the 0.13 used to rip the caluses off his fingers.
massive addiction to clumbian marching powder
died b4 his time in a helicopter crash.

Randy rodes (played for ozzy after he left sabbath in the 80s.)
many many clasic tracks fomr him but must mention his death
He dided when the bus driver of the bands buss took them home.
after driveing all night on marchign powder he desides to take randy up in his plane. Ozzy was invited along on the flight but he had passed out. as you do on a flight they tryed to wake up ozzy by flying low and fast over the tour bus. The just missed the bus but flew smack in to the drivers house..

2 greats both will be missed.

 forgot to mention Les Paul, early innovator of the electric guitar AND multitrack-recording. He was still playing into his 90's. A remarkable musician and inventor, a huge influence and he could really play!

  • Can't believe Clapton has only been mentioned once. Sure he's had some duller moments, but listen to the Cream reunion gig at the Albert Hall. He's still got the fire when he wants to.

    Also:-
    SRV
    Hendrix
    Billy Gibbons
    Brian May
    Jimmy Page
    Peter Green
    Jim Hall
    Wes Montgomery
    George Harrison

Good point, I wasn't dissapointed when I saw him in Hyde Park a few years ago.

Think Badge is my favourite of his songs (OK, I know it was Cream) but didn't he write it with George Harrison, think he might have played on it too...

Ooh, and Steve Hackett. (If only for the dramatic tail off in quality after he left Genesis)
