Taken it for a quick ride up the road to double check everything, seems to accelerate fast and has no downsides at all in comparison to the old Malt.

Black forks were the right choice mate, it looks great!
  • Cheers, yep once you go black you never go back

Nar white would have looked wrong and i am glad they have grey/silver decals on them.

Scales might be here tomorrow so i am going to weigh this and the blur. Will be interesting to get some decent accurate figures for them both.
  • Thats even better now - nice work that man 8)

Thought it might have been a bit lighter really. as others for very similar builds are claiming 24lbs.

I'd say its fairly accurate for what you have on it...Your wheels/tyres, skewers are about 1.5lb heavier than mine (wheels are approx1900g inc skewers + weight of tyres/tubes - 1400-1500g? - thats about 7.5lb all in). With a lightweight wheel set up you would be mid 24lbs.
  • PM sent about tyre choice.

I am currently looking into wheels, the Pro II's are up for sale,

Torn between Hope Pro 3 SP XC3's on 355's and ZTR's with Crests from JRA.

Before you sell your current wheels/tyres, weigh them, then at least you know where you are with the weight and what you'd be looking at with new ones in terms of weight savings.

I might be watching to see what choice you make rather than the other way round then mate

ZTRs are floating my boat at the moment because they seem a bit more exclusive... For now anyway.
  • Pro 3 355 SP XC 3's ORDERED. Just need some light skewers and tyres now.
  • Weighed the old wheels today. Rear wheel complete with cassette,160mm xt 6 bolt rotor, hope steel qr and panaracer fire xc tyre is 5.3lbs. Front complete with 160mm xt 6 bolt rotor, hope steel qr and panaracer fire xc tyre is 4.42lbs.

Then i weighed the bike with no wheels on it and it weighed in at this:

    16.52lbs.

Nice...reckon you will be around 24.5lb with the new hoops..depending on tyre choice. Just weighed mine again this morn and its at 23lb 8oz (23.5lb).
  • Done a bit of number crunching and I am going to take a punt at it been between 23.5 and 24lbs with the new wheel and tyre setup.

Nice..remember to order stans yellow tape and valves for running tubelessness..normally get my stuff from Freeborn. Your prob correct on weights (forgot the rotors were inc with your wheels).
  • Ordered the rim tape with the wheels and already got spare stans olympic valves as i am already tubeless on my Blur using stans flow rims, thanks for the reminder though.
  • Tomorrow should see the arrival of the Hope hoops Pro3 SP XC3 wheel set with stans 355 rims and then hopefully later in the week the following should arrive:

Bontrager Mud X 2.0 TR tyres,
XTR Skewers (not light but the best skewers available imho).

Then that should be it, build finished hopefully (bar possibly a easton stem).
  • Ive got a set of as new/mint XTR skewers up for sale matey, seen less than 5 miles, PM if interested ;)
  • The M970 ones (latest)
  • Gutted, already ordered some. Might have a call tomorrow to say they dont have them in. If they dont i will be straight onto you.
