Thanks for that - much appreciated heads up!

Just ordered one of the camera rear lights, some leg warmers which look like they may have waterproof lowers to go over my winter boots, couple of helmet lights and a couple of the stands - they look like the Feedback Rakk stands which I have a few of already and if they are as good, this is a bargain indeed!

Hi AP - also ordered one of these, thought it would be a useful stand when cleaning a bike out in the garden - suitable for that you reckon?

Appreciate you can't go through the gears etc, but I have a proper stand for that.

On the basis of buying some other Tifosi casual glasses, and being blown away by the quality, I would wager these are a stonking deal.

    https://www.probikekit.co.uk/clothing/sunglasses/tifosi-pro-escalate-fh-interchangeable-sunglasses-gloss-black/clear/11388905.html

If you use the code, and it works through TCB, you are looking at £30 for a £90 pair of glasses, with multiple lenses, and seemingly, full, or half rim design.

  • Think they definitely missed a trick in not offering a version of the camera light with a transparent cover, to use on the front of a bike.

Still unable to tell if the camera can be operated independently of having the light on.

Pretty sure I will order/buy one at least.

Any bargain 11-speed chains out there? I am a bit of a cheapskate with chains - no £100 gold bling for me.

Is there anything a more expensive chain will do which this one won't?

    Cheers

I am a KMC man personally - I would go for this for not much more money: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kmc-x11-93-11-s ... 114-links/

Although, actually I would really go for this: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kmc-x11-el-11-s ... in-silver/ because its lighter and shinier and not hugely more expensive.

Cheers - I decided to go wild and get the KMC one rather than the SRAM.
Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.

The Fly6 can, as I understand it. So this should ;)

I have an older version of those glasses, only ever used the clear and amber coloured lenses as the dark ones were just too dark, but they are brilliant for what were a cheap purchase

I'm tempted to get one as I need a new rear light, although the "high performance" rear light looks better for just a light.
Maybe I'll just get one and call it £40 of experimentation.

I'm not sure how much use a rear camera will be: I don't have mudguards so it will be covered in water/mud half the time and the "interesting" stuff I see and might want to record is in front, because that's the way I'm looking most of the time.

Edit: This looks like the instruction manual if it's any use to anyone - http://www.quesh.co.uk/data/images/products/79004UG.pdf
I think there are some LEDs around the lens which tell you whether or not the camera is on/recording. The main 'light' comes on with the camera, but you can turn the brightness down to 'off'.
Mounting looks like it's via a velcro strap through a couple of slots in the back.

It's to help get prosecution/compensation when someone hits you from behind isn't it? Is there other use?

Most of the issues I encounter are:
    • Pulling out in front of me
    • Opening doors in front of me
    • Turning across in front of me
    • Overtaking then cutting in a braking in front of me
    • Dogs/pedestrians running out in front of me

If I'm not looking behind me, unless I get hit from behind I'm not going to know that there's anything useful on the camera unless I sit there and watch the video at home (which I don't have the time or desire to do).

However, if the light can be turned off I could always mount it on the front...

Press and hold the button for 3 seconds until you hear a beep(s).
This will turn the camera on and start it recording as well as the
light depending on the last setting used.
theres 3 light modes and 4 dim settings -
    constant, strobe1, strobe
    low, medium, high, off

So if you can set the light to constant/off and turn the camera on with the light in that mode then you can use it on the front...otherwise, for £40 it's worth a mess around inside ...

I've asked the boss to get me one when she goes to look for her kit on thursday morning. Most of my issues are close passes - with a police car and a bus doing it only the other week - rear view would be beneficical to get their details to pass on to their employers. I take exception to professional drivers behaving badly.

The rear camera is more for the future prosecution cases for poor driving I feel -
    • The Tailgating/horn honking/Get Out Of My Way
    • Close Passes
    • hit from behind
I'm regularly aware of drivers inches off my wheel when in town, despite doing 25mph. But with only helmet camera footage, the actual distance is hard to determine, and I want to keep looking forward.
Rear mounted camera shows you that, and if your lucky enough to sit in WMP zone, or other area supporting 3rd party video, can be used to prosecute. (Or if it's a private hire/business can be used to complain)

  • It might be better for reg plates than the forward facing one. Sometimes they accelerate so fast during the overtake some detail gets lost.

Would there be any legal issues with using one of these to compile and publish a set of drafting fairy mugshots? No potentially libellous commentary, just the mugshots

If you finish a journey and nothing has happened, you just delete the footage without watching it. You only need to look at footage if something has happened.

Do they not allow looped recording? So that it overwrites older stuff when space runs out and never actually stops recording? I think this is common practice on dash cams in cars.

    Please Note:
No loop record function available on this model.

    Doesn't seem like it does.

These are superb imho - I use nrrow pad, and XS size, and they fit me like a 2 fingered glove.

I stocked up when Wiggle had a voucher thing to use a little while back.

I have one pair of short leg ones, and 4 of the longer leg ones - the longer are by far my preference, the short one gets hammered on the turbo.

Just to add I noticed they has the long leg narrow pad in stock in XS, and also that there was 3.15% cashback through TCB, and a £10 off code if you spent over £100 - so added two bibshorts to basket, found some 99p valve caps, and should now get each pair of shorts for £44 delivered - can't argue with that really.

  • It's the time of year when nights are closing in. Need a new front light. The one I've got works fine, is German StVZO approved (and therefore legal for UK roads), but....
It takes normal batteries, which only seem to last a week
It's only 30 lux on full power, and not bright enough for me to avoid badgers that jump out in front of me in Richmond Park when it's pitch dark out there.

    So, I'm after one that's :
    Minimum 60 lux
Rechargeable (USB ideally), with a sensible charge indicator
Has a proper shaped beam that does not dazzle, and is ideally StVZO approved

Going by what I see coming the other way in Richmond Park, most bike lights out there are dreadful, with far too much light pointing straight ahead.

This sort of thing looks like it would do the trick, if it was available....
