dont go off claimed weights, if you have not weighed your bike its pointless voting.

    claimed weights are tosh.

The Meta XT is 30bs, about 2lbs must have been shaved off the stock weight, it was a bit meaty from brand new.

The new Mojo that I was building up was 27lbs, this was with 2008 Floats and standard tubes though, I'm hoping it'll hit 26lbs without silly light bits after xmas.

about 29.5 i think, this is with a fat 850g tyre on the back mind.... and think tubes, im pretty shure with a hefty some of cash, i could get it down too 27 fairly easyily.... im not too fused though, so long as it isnt silly heavy, id rather it be strong and reliable, as my mate said
"you wont be thinking aout the fact you saved 150g when your bars snap of a drop....., and when do you notice 30g saved from a tube, exept when you have to stop to fix a puncture...."

stumpy =27lbs (couldnt make it lighter without making it bendy and delicate)
    older stumpy=29lbs
enduro= 30.5lbs (swapping the thomson for a joplin added nearly a full pound!!!)
orange=28.5lbs (not bad as its very tough but cost under 500 quid)

most of it was second hand buying from ebay, at some point in the last 4 years but alot of it was lying in my spares box.

tbf the post and stem could be lighter but wouldnt look as good if it wasnt thomson. the bars are light for their width. smaller rotors wouldnt work with my 19 odd stone and lighter cranks are too expensive for my tastes.

Point is, you could technically make it lighter without sacrificing strength and stiffness :P

good point, maybe i should have said "i couldnt make it lighter without making it bendy or delicate or obscenely* expensive"

    *this being relative of course.

    cheers, i really like it.
  • Last time I weighed mine it was 22.5lbs, I've put heavier (winter) tyres on it since which put around half a pound on it, I'd like to upgrade the whole drivetrain/gears etc to XTR which would lighten it further but I can't justify the expense. (Read: the missus would have my balls on the Chistmas tree)

    Cross bike weighs 18.5lbs.

I should probably have waited until I had finished building it before I voted on this thread, as now I have fitted the rear disk brake with the new rear wheel/tyre and the bike wieghs less than 28lbs

Ah well, 27.6lbs is a wieght I can live with; could probably be lighter having cost me £450
  • Weighed my bike last week using Park Digital scales.

33lbs 9 oz.....this is with lighter rear tyre, saddle, seatpost, stem and bars fitted.

WhatMTB weighed it in at 32.7lbs..(unless this was manufacturers quoted weight, but i thought all test bikes were weighed?)

    Marin AttackTrail 6.9 2009.

Love it though, got a 44 out of 128 in FOD enduro XC race in october.

Full carbon version please!!!....(are whyte on the case?...)

24.2lbs just now including lights, mudguards and a gravity dropper. But no suspension

I weighed it last night and it was 29lbs with the Revs on it. Thought "That's a bit bloody weighty", weighed it again today without the snow and it's 27lbs!

Probably would need to be rigid to get 20lbs!

    MInes 31.5lbs

    08 Marin Quad XC 120
    09 Reba race forks
Mavic 719 rims, hope hub front, xt rear
09 LX groupset, XT front and rear shifters
    180mm front, 160 rear disc
Race face evolve low rise bars, seatpost and stem
    FSA orbit headset
Large can fox float rear shock
    Pananracer Cinder 2.25 tyres
SDG bell air rl Ti saddle

Cinder tyres do weigh quite a lot, 760g each. Could loose a pound by changing them., maybe get it down to 30lbs with xt cranks and cassette? Would be nice, but not overly fussed. Dosent seem to make any real differance to the ride compared to my lighter hardtail.
