Ammo = ammunition = pellet, sounds like pelet.
pelet before on, peloton being a pack.
Am I right?

Yes, there have been some fun ones. Hope you're recovered from whatever kept you in bed for 2 days. (Assuming it wasn't just pleasure.)0 -

You should get lots of time to think some up whilst out training for that!

Help improve times in event with short waiting list (10)
Edit: In case I don't pop back to check replies, there is a second cryptic clue here (no peeking), which should have an obvious connection if you have the right answer: http://tinyurl.com/c2we5z0 -

My bad? I'll try harder for harder clues then - but some clues just make me smile, whether they're hard or easy. Anyhow, bazzargh has left us with one I can't figure out which end I should pick it up from. And then he's left another little cryptic clue online which is related...0 -
anyone getting anywhere?
I can't get slipstream out my mind......but can't put the whole thing together to be sure.0 -
Checked the second 'cryptic' clue, you are right PBo. Next clue, matey says he may not be back for a while to check.......winter beast: http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr34 ... uff016.jpg

No stefanos, that's not it (I assume you think there's a connection from that word to 'stream', but the connection is the /literal meaning/ of the second clue)
Ok I'm surprised this has stood, though it is a 'proper' cryptic, and is a bit evil in that the surface meaning suggests one connection to cycling when the answer is something completely different.
I'll reword it a bit with slightly more blatant clues. I think this change is enough that you could guess it and work your way back:

isn't literal meaning "watertable" (which has 10 letters) but even then can't break it down.
endless waiting is wa, list could be table, but still struggling.0 -
The literal meaning of 'aquifer' is not water table. It's latin. The literal meaning is water bearer (or water carrier). Does this help you?0
