Almost finished, just need to tidy up the routing on the back brake and I need a longer hose for the front brake

I'd love some green spank rims too, but just can't afford it right now

This has turned out really nice mate well done...

Patriots are awesome bikes, you're gonna have a lot of fun on this...

I was going to build a patriot earlier this year but built a new hardtail instead...seeing this makes me want to start scouring ebay for a good frame :)

Sure it will be no rocket ship on the climbs (my marin is 31lb and i wouldnt fancy anything much heavier) but it will eat downhills for fun... get a dropper post stuck on there and you're laughing

yeah, I want green rims, and I looked at green hoses for the brakes but I think the goodridge ones are too thick

the rear is an Alex on a Shimano hub

    Looks very nice
  • Well done, looks great that. Nice spec too. Some Green Hope team goodies that pop up on eBay would go great on that.

I like that, i like it a lot.

  • Dodgy looking rear brake hose routing, other than that good job.
  • Or buy some silver bits and have them anodised.

nice looking bike, I always fancied a Patriot, but after my test ride of the orange I kinda went off the idea.

What's it like to ride apart from the weight?

yeah, still trying to work out the rear brake hose routing, just got zip ties on there now, but looking for another solution
  • I thought the brake hose went under the front shock mount and then had U-clips to hold it in place on the rear chain stay?

the hose actually goes through the swing arm, but it's a pain in the arse to do and get out the other end, and you have to bleed the brake again as well, obviously. On my old patriot i just ended up using cable ties like jools here.

supposed to go through the rear swing arm but I cant be arsed bleeding the system for that

well looks like I'm getting rid of it without even using the ting :(

finances are so tight at the moment that I haven't got much choice

I'll probably end up splitting it

looks like this will be up for sale very soon, not even been on a proper ride yet :(

funds are way too tight to keep it

still not sure whether to split it or sell as a complete bike
  • Sad news :(

Just dont be tempted to accept rubbish offers on stuff just because you need the money. I've done that before and always regretted it.

Do you not have anything less important that you could sell first? Like children or a kidney?

ha ha, yeah I have 2 kidneys I guess

it will probably be the last thing to go and I guess splitting it will give me more cash, but it will break my heart to break it up again
  • If it does have to come down to getting rid of it, splitting would probably be the best option. Especially if most of the bits used were new and you kept the boxes.

Don't sell it, find other ways of getting money! Biking is a way of life remember.
