I did find a couple of hills that were so steep I had to stop for a breather halfway and I was walking!!!!
I also stopped taking all my drugs this afternoon nice to be back in the real world.
I suspect you are going to need those drugs on sunday again, if you actually rock up0 -

Planning to do the Evans around Gt Missenden/Chilterns on 12th September. Any of you Sillys planning the same? Have been canvassing work colleagues but they're already hemmming and hawing.
Can anyone recommend or have experience of an Evans demo fleet? I shall be treating myself to a hire; they look OK for the money. And obviously light years ahead of my commuting BSO http://www.evanscycles.com/ride-it/great-missenden-11th-12th-september-2010#demo_bikes"Consider the grebe..."0 -

I sort of intended to do a Sportive this year and haven't. I think I'll move up to the "hemming and hawing" level from the "hadn't really noticed it" level.0 -
I might be getting ahead of myself a little but I think I might do the New Forest Rattler this Sunday, just the short version.

Fellow Lap the Lough'ers, the final count down has commenced!
Looking forward to next weeks event - fellow SCRers, if you spot me come by and say hi, I'll be the one on a Brompton ( )with the yellow t-shrt :-)0 -
Yeah Lap the Lough in 6 days.
Apparently there are 1500 entries which sounds a huge number. I'm planning to be there early to get signed on so I'll hopefully see you there. I'll be on a black Cannondale trying to stay in touch with a group from Ballymoney CC, keep an eye out for their black and blue Sky-esque kit. Can't give you any more detail on my attire, haven't told Wiggle what I want yet, also the bike may be getting new tyres and tape.
IIRC you are fundraising in memory of a friend from NI. Hope it goes well and you achieve a good total.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
TWH - I'll keep an eye out for you and the Ballymoney CC guys - good to see that club back up and running again.
If anyone's interested, here's what we're doing (and why I'm doing it on a Brompton to raise a few more pennies - http://www.justgiving.com/lapthelough2010) We've raised nearly £3,500 so far )0 -

Lough lapped! A fine event, our team got round in one piece and the weather, after drenching the car park just before the start, held up fine. Headwind for the first half then tailwind and sunshine to bring us home (and even give us a bit of sun burn!) The Brompton did itself proud and provided much roadside entertainment.
We had quite a bit of roadside supporters which spurred us on when the going got tough. The majority of the team of 5 had never cycled that distance before. The brother of the guy whose memory we were doing it in excelled himself. He'd been doing some training in the gym before hand (being a self confessed couch potato) but had NEVER been out on the road proper until the day.Amazing.
In all an emotional day, but nearly £7,500 for the cancer centre charity and money still coming in. Big credit to the organisers for an excellent event. The route was well marked, the feed stations well run and the mechanics in good supply. Never seen so many punctures at an event in my life, first one was within a quarter of a mile of the start and we lost count of how many we saw along the way! Fortunately the PF was smiling on us.
Will be back next year :-)0 -

Glad all the Lough Lappers had a good one.
I was in Ireland, and had a bike with me - but was staying in Malin Head so not that convenient. I went out for a little pootle round the coast in moral support. Next year....
Cycling at Malin Head is, uh, windy and hilly.Misguided Idealist0 -
