Any updates Mac? I am like a big kid waiting for you to pull your finger out.....
By Wednesday, mine will be 'totally' finished.
Just fitted my new KCNC clamp
KCNC bottle cage bolts / Goodridge cable inner for my Pushloc / chain stay protector will be here tomorrow.
Still waiting for my bloody heli-tape to arrive that was ordered ages ago, I took her out for a blast the other day but the paint is quite delicate on our bikes, so would suggest that you get some too! Even if it's just for the downtube and toptube!0 -
Greetings Your Highness Big Cheese Sir
No updates - had to go up to London Saturday and worked Sunday.Trust me there is no-one that wants this bike built more than me! I'm busy tonight and probably Tuesday to, but I've already booked Wednesday night to work on it. Should get everything stripped and cleaned from my Kona this week, then build at the weekend.Santa Cruz Chameleon

Nothing as yet, But I have most of the original parts, so I could build it back up (but the forks are MZ comp OEM - Worst Forks EVER and the brakes are cheap avid cable disc jobs - Worst Brakes EVER so may just sell the frame.Santa Cruz Chameleon

What size is it? I have a friend who might be interested0

16 inch (small). Can PM more details if you need.Santa Cruz Chameleon
Orange Alpine 1600 -
OK cheers. I fear 16 might be too small. Will let him know.0

Finally got all the parts off the Kona tonight.
Cleaned up the Fox F100s, good as new!
Weighed the frames to compare (excuse the rubbish scales - not the most accurate!)
boths frames weighed with headset cups and seatpost clamps a bit of garden string.
The Old Kona weighed approx 6lbs, not too bad for a bike that only cost me just under 600 quid:
The Marin weights just under 4lbs:

The build is going to look great, I am like a proud parent!!!!
Those forks look great with the frame, are you running the white headset - you should do, it'll look awesome!!!! 8)0 -
White headset is going to have to wait u fortunately, simply because I'm out of funds and can't afford a headset press or cup remover just yet and really don't want bodge it!Santa Cruz Chameleon

I know the feeling, I am skint as at the moment, but around Xmas Im treating myself to a new 456 frame.
Oh: Pm'd you re: Kona0 -
That's going to look sweet 8)
I wouldn't worry about the headset - i've got a Hope on mine and i doubt i'd ever spend that much on a headset again - something like a cane creek S2 is just as good IMO.0 -

It's going to be a good FSA headset either way (Big Cheese sold me the frame with a black headset in place, and also the same model of headset in white separately that I would put on if I had the tools) Hope one is staying in the Kona frame for same reason regarding tools!Santa Cruz Chameleon

Got the first bits moved over to the Marin, looks great with white forks and bars IMO.

Interested to see how this turns out, looks great so far.0

A few new bits came last week:
Peaty lock ons (the old white grips just looked rubbish against the white bars):
I know I'm going to get the piss taken out of me for these as they are extra weight for no real reason, but I like 'em:
Sram 971 chain and new Park chain tool:
Cleaned up the old mini monos:

Looks great Mac, are you running 120mm forks? Or 100mm, front end looks high (may be me??)
Loving the red white and blue = great scheme. And a great set of kit on there 8)
Have you taken her out yet? She rides really well!!!0 -

I think it's just the riser bars/low saddle height - it's amazing how the little things make the difference, it looks like a totally different bike to when you had it!"Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling." ~James E. Starrs0 -
Cheers for compliments guys, I'm really happy with it.
Jeast - don't think they are sealed. But the ferules on the that connect the outer to the bare cable have rubber tubing attached that I'm hoping will keep a bit of crud out. Gears shift perfectly so far.
BlackSpur - yep agree with saddle comment! pics taken before fully set up.
bigbenj_08 - Red or blue skewers may be coming from Santa if i've been a good boy this year!
The Big Cheese - Only 100mm up front, but with a 20mm spacer on the headset and a medium riser bar. Had a quick ride today, very light and responsive and climbs very easily, going to give it a full 4 hour ride and get it set up perfectly tomorrow.Santa Cruz Chameleon
