If only he'd enter a bloody race!
correct - annoyingly so.
It's all relative though. I thought I was good.
Then I started riding with current and ex 1st/Elites and they unleashed the rape cannon upon me. When they ride in the 53x16 up hills (chatting away too, the bastards) that require you to drop into the little ring, then you see just how good you are."A cyclist has nothing to lose but his chain"

Everyone should be put into leagues, but the problem is there could be hundreds of leagues lol.
I'd like to think I am quite good, I can't remember this year anyone who I've come across who can totally rape me, but then again, I don't know how much energy they are using, if they're on a good/bad day, if I'm on a good/bad day.
There is no good I guess if you compare yourself to the person who is faster than you and so does that person compare themselves and so on.0 -
now if Bhima entered a race, and turned out to be a Cat1 or whatever, then I would feel a whole lot better him flying past me on Mow Cop0

Yeah, we could get British Cycling to set up come kind of league system for races, for arguments sake, lets call them 'categories'. Everyone could start off in a bottom 'category' racing against other riders in the bottom 'category' then move up to a higher one if they get a certain number of points from good finishes, lets call the top one 'Elite'...
Why don't you e-mail them with your suggestion Will?0 -
Why, when thats already done O_o...0

He might just be onto something, you could maybe number the first four categories ?0 -

What a great idea!
maybe we could perhaps ride certain bits of road on our own and like time ourselves and send our results to an internet person. Then again cycling is full of cheats so perhaps we could get someone to time us.
Even better, perhaps we could all do set distances like 24 and 49 miles then compare real times with real people in real events.
No, can't see it myself our ideas will never catch on, much easier to make stuff up with no one else around and then tell everyone how great you are.0 -

Thats a stupid distance, surely 10km wold be better?
Or something longer like 50km?"I hold it true, what'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost;
Than never to have loved at all."

I'm doing another hill rep session up Blaze Hill on Friday from around 1pm. Anyone is free to join me. Just let me know before Friday. It's a lot tougher, so having other riders for motivation would help. Weather is supposed to turn ugly around 5.redddraggon wrote:Will has been doing too much Partying - I bet Bhima hasn't
I've heard of these "party" things. What are they?nolf wrote:
I've done sprint workouts/intervals (both long and short)/hill climbing, you cannot max your body out 34 times in 1 ride, nor can you hammer it up 34 climbs in 1 ride.
Perhaps if you improved the quality of your wokouts instead of the ridiculous BS quantity you could actually compete with other people?
I see what you're saying, but I probably only went flat-out about 5 times. The 6th time, I looked at the speed and knew it was time to stop. The whole point of me doing that ride was to get my usual 5+ hour climbing into the space of 3 hours by cutting out all the boring flat bits. So I do see it as quality over quantity, even though it sounds ridiculous at first. It was definately a quality workout, I could really feel it. There's no point sprinting up a hill all the time, without lesser efforts in-between, because it's counter-productive, you get tired quicker and end up doing less riding overall.Slow1972 wrote:I find it hard to believe you did 16 climbs and descents an hour for 2 hours up there, because your average speed would be 25.6 mph.
I wish! It was more like 3 hours. You're thinking of actual time, whereas my 2 hours reffers to actual climbing time. My computer stopped counting in the short breaks I had and when I turned it off for the descents.ShockedSoShocked wrote:When they ride in the 53x16 up hills (chatting away too, the bastards) that require you to drop into the little ring, then you see just how good you are.
However, 53x16 is pretty impressive. What gradient was that up? Can't be much, unless they are really good at bluffing and were talking to hide the extreme pain/oxygen debt.0 -
It involves drinking large amounts of alcohol and chucking up on your carpet and bathroom aswell as feeling like death and looking cycling fitness.0

No bluffing, they're just fit.
Trust me, when people start telling you to stop whining because "Carlton Bank isn't so bad, it's a big ring hill" then you know you're in trouble."A cyclist has nothing to lose but his chain"

Bhima I can hear your freewheel from here, you're back pedalling so much
Its now 3 hours, not 2. And all of a sudden you weren't sprinting all out on the drops "emtying the tank" everytime as your earlier posts suggest.
Still fair play to you for doing it 32 times up and down in 3 hours, still a great effort0 -
All sounds very impressive!
But to a mere mortal like myself when doing hill repeats if i'm doing them properly with good form i couldn't even remember what rep i was on after 10 never mind count exact to 32 reps as i'm shot by the end let alone concentrate on rep numbers.
Keep up the good work though and interesting threads!!0 -

Everything i've said is consistent; you're just reading it wrong!
To be honest, it's the same ammount of riding most people would do on an averagely hilly ride, but is totally illogical because it seems it's designed to suck all the fun out of riding.
Hill repeats > Turbo trainer0 -
Bhima, in regards to your "75kg" of honey, please post a picture for proof of this, it does not sound believable and I want to see what 75kg of honey looks like.0

Doesn't bhima weigh about 65 kg ? so he possesses more than his own bodyweight in honey!0

Hmmmm, well seems to me that the statement:Bhima wrote:Because i've just done the same hill 32 times in 2 hours. I have an addiction. Is there some kind of helpline I can call?

involves 1 hour of back pedalling.... and you were still averaging under 4 minutes per ascent 32 times on the trot... hmmm
I think rather than reading it wrong your first statement included the Bhima BS factor0 -

Is there a specific thread about the search for vast quantities of honey (tried a search but couldn't find it) as this is something I want to read for pure Brasseye style bizarreness?http://www.ledomestiquetours.co.uk
