New frame should be arriving within 3week. Parts coming in from Germany and Italy in a couple of weeks. The seat I ordered will actually go on my Flash. And put the green Gobi on the new Scalpel.

definitely the Fizik Aliante twinflex carbon saddle. best saddle ive ever had. very smooth for the bib shorts.
the gobi xm is quite flexy in the centre of the saddle like a hammock, it is a baggy shorts only saddle.

New parts are coming in.
My Custom Seat has arrived from Italy today. I might put this on my new Scalpel or on my Flash. We shall see

It isn't the lightest (199g) but I need a comfortable seat as I normal do (continuous) an average 3 to 4 hours on my bike. And i think Fizik is one of the best seats around. Plus my bum has tried alot of seat and seems to only like the Gobi and the Aliante.

I decided to put the new Aliante seat on my Flash and put the GOBI XM seat on the new Scalpel.
The new frame and the rest of the parts should be arriving by the end of next week.

Handle Bar arrived today from Germany.
It a Schmolke TLO Bar 600mm with Custom Carbon end caps. Weigh in at 84grams



My LBS told me my frame should be arriving (hopefully) the first week of March

Getting my frame tomorrow!! At last!!
Just to let everyone know I plan to build to my new Team Scalpel to weigh around/under 19 lbs (8.6kg). I want the Scalpel to be light but strong enough to take on the trails and my fat ass (200lbs)
My last Scalpel 09 weigh in at 20.3 lbs (9.26 kg) which was pretty light.

Here are a list of parts from my old Scalpel that I plan to keep/use on my new build.
Formula R1 Brake with carbon levers and Floating 160mm Rotors
Shimano XTR set with Yumeya parts
Cannondale Si Hollowgram SL crankset with Carbon Ti Chainrigs

Lefty Speed Carbon SL Fork
DT Swiss XR Carbon Rear Shock
Crank Brothers Eggbeaters 2Ti

Anyway enough of the old stuff. Here are some more pic's of the new parts that I will be using.

Seat post : Fizik Cyrano(228g) or Extralite UL Post(155g).
The Extralite is by far the lighter post but I do prefer the Cyrano clamp system which is similar to my old Thomson MP.




A couple of weeks ago I tried out the Tune Speedneedle saddle and I fell in love with it. I was pleasantly surprise on how comfortable it was so I bought the new Tune Kom-Vor Saddle(90g). Also a very light saddle with a 95kg weigh limit. Ok for me


TUNE bits : QR seat clamp(26g), Chainrings bolts and QR skewer(19g). I only need one for the rear wheel. Don't need a front one as I'm using a Lefty. Good thing that TUNE sells single skewers. KMC X-9SL Gold Chain and TUNE bar ends (I might put these on)




Carbon clamp for Shimano XTR shifters and carbon handlebar clamp for Formula R1



Power Cordz cable, Carbon Nokon housing, ESI grips


Wheelset :
Tune Prince and Cannonball SL hubs with Sapim cx ray spokes and ZTR Crest rims
Rear Hub(680g) Front Hub (580g) These wheels were going to go on my Flash but I am still waiting for Industry 9 to arrive, so in the mean time I will use these on the Scalpel.





I will be using Maxixs 285 for now. Rainy season hasn't started yet


Now its off to my LBS tomorrow morning. 8) Looking forward to seeing the new frame.

that wheelset is Super light! what sort of abuse are they going to take?? obviously not all mountain! but i'd be affraid my weight on them would send them egg shaped hahahah!

so is true about that seat clamp of yours- Tune (26g)?- lovely bit, but again- Extralite produces 11g clamps- not sure about their size/s, though.

Saddle is a saddle- got it. Have you tried Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio? Very comfy- the only one that suits me. Give it a go if you are still thinking about making some shavings.

Carbon Ti chainrings I've been using for over a year now and I'm very happy with them. I also have a set of Extralite chainrings but it feels soft when riding them. Just like the FRM. I know the Carbon Ti is only heavier by about 20g but chain rings need to be stiff.

I know the seat clamp is not the lightest but I need a QR and also something that clamps well. E.g. Extralite, KCNC, are too soft for me and don't clamp well as I weigh 200lbs (14.2 stone) I've need to be careful on the components that I'm using.

I tried out the Tune Saddle today and I'm not liking it I am still a BIG fan of Fizik saddles so it looks like I'm going with (White) Fizik Antares 00 which weighs 129g that's 39g heavier than the TUNE saddle. I have a black one on my Flash and I'm very happy with it. I guess that will have too do.

You're going to need some kind of lead weights to keep the thing from floating away.

Some more new parts for the bike.

Manage to get a hold of this new tubes. I must say I am very very happy with them as I am not a big tubeless fan (bad experience) plus messy with stans



Bike is done but need to decided what saddle i am going to use,
Fizik Aliante (220g), Gobi Xm(199g), Antares 00 (129g) of the TUNE saddle (90g)




Think I will put the Fizik Aliante 00 black or Gobi XM on the Scalpel.
