You are so American.0
-
Well it's true, you appear to do everything in HUGE portions.0

I weighed myself all week and i've lost a kilo in the past 5 days. I'm now down to 65, which is getting ridiculous. To be honest, I think I should be eating more. :shock:0
-
65? Last time I seen you looked like you had more weight than me you must be a rake now. You are either the same height as me or taller and I weight around 77-80kg.0
-
Gosh - just looking at my cycling diary. When I went out cycling with you (March & April), I weighed 87kg! :shock:0
-
Sorry - that's either bullsh!t or completely unhealthy. Dropping 22kg from 87kg in 5 months suggests you are are very ill, or will be very soon.
I hope for your sake that you're a pathological liar!0 -
yikes. i thought 1x500g pot of yoghurt with extra fruit was pigging out!
good idea to eat small amounts at each sitting, body can only digest so much in one go and stores rest as fat.0 -
I can't believe I missed this thread. More bhima brilliance.
Rides 5 hours a day, manages to drop 22kg in 5 months, now does 2 hours a day of hard intervals that make him throw up, yet only managed a (dubious) 26 minute 10.
awesome.0 -
tbh, I weighed in at 13.5stone when I first started cycling, and within 2-3months I dropped to around 12stone and I was not fairly ill.0
-
There's no way i'm ill - in fact, at the moment I feel great! I felt ill when I was fat actually.
I've lost loads of (unneeded) upper body muscle too, it's not all fat. There's nothing unhealthy about losing weight fast - I eat WELL better than most people I know.0 -
That's a daily calorie deficiency of 1100 calories.
All I can say is that you're top-class at metabolising stored fat, because if you're doing all this cycling with such a deficit, it's no wonder your time trial results aren't commensurate with the amount of training you're doing!
Please give consideration to your long-term health if you're telling the truth about your activity, ingestion and weight levels.0 -
A lot of it's to do with losing the MASSIVE biceps I used to have. As i've said, it's not all fat. I just stopped weight lifting and I lost it quite quickly.
Yes, I was on silly calorie deficits for a while, around 2000 on some days, but it's because I was cycling for 8hrs at a time when the weather was amazing, staying up all night and swimming too, not because I was eating little.
The truth is, I feel great right now, i'm eating healthily, getting all necessary nutrition, etc, my cycling is going great, my sleep patterns are getting consistent again, and I can see this trend continuing into the future, as i've learned a lot about diet and how to maintain this current state. When I was fat, I always felt tired and run down. Cycling felt harder and I was really lazy, in general. I actually enjoy physical exercise now.0 -

Another classic thread. Bhima's recipe for poor man's energy drink isn't bad actually, I used to make gren tea with honey and lemon, chill it and drink it on rides.
It's a shame he posts something sensible, and then goes on to discredit himself by claiming to consume 6kg of yoghurt and fruit, plus half a jar of honey in one sitting. That's ridiculous.
Bhima, two lighthearted suggestions:
A: Give up cycling and start participating in competetive eating contests. You'd do well.
B: Lay off the crack.
To return to the topic, red grape juice works well for me. Costs less than a pound a litre, plenty of calories and seems to digest fairly easily. Dilute it 50/50 and add plain bulk maltodextrin powder for extra energy, pinch of salt on a hot day and cordial to flavour.
I've tried a few fruit juices, but grape seems to be less acidic then stuff like orange juice, and tastes nice as well.
Never used fructose powder, but mixed with maltodextrin and water should be fine, you'd probably want to flavour it with something, otherwise it wouldn't taste of anything. One thing I found is that maltodextrin seems to clog up into lumps, so either use a blender, or mix in hot water then chill overnight.0 -
Joking aside, your activities sound like you may have had a period of mania at some point
'cycling for 8hrs at a time when the weather was amazing, staying up all night and swimming too,'
that's not normal for a sustained period - do you find yourself spending a lot of money and feeling invincible too? Maybe you should speak to a doctor, or at least a close friend/ family member to check you are ok.0
