EBH wins! He started leading Greipel out... and, er, didn't stop

Greipel got 2nd I think, so keeps yellow.

Oh, it was a LOT closer from the side-on photo finish camera.

    004-1-01.jpg

    1. EBH
    2. Greipel
    3. Roelandts
    4. Napolitano

A lot going on in the sprint... Greipel had to take his hand off the bars and shove Davis out of the way, and Davis immediately stuck his arm up to complain. There might be a protest. Although it did look like it was Davis at fault... he moved a fair way off his line.

Probably justified. Today's stage... hills, yippee!

    e5_height.gif

In the break we have Pavel Brutt, Ian Stannard, and Sebastien Turgot. Very wet weather...

Turgot's legs give out on a climb. Just Stannard and Brutt left out front. Not sure of time gaps or distance left, though...

    Edit... 36 km to go.

Edit again... ah, it's only 20s. All over.

Is it raining? It can't be a proper Tour of Poland without epic rain storms!

Not sure if it's still raining... the riders aren't wearing gilets... but the roads look very slick.

Still gruppo compatto (or whatever that is in Polish) but Lampre are spending a lot of energy in keeping the pace high. Bruseghin is a monster. It's for Szmyd, I guess.

That is a very odd looking stage profile!

Why do they insist on finishing with circuits every day? Nothing wrong with it, just curious. It is good for the fans and probably logistically too.

Think there's like less than 10 km to go.

    Ballan attacks... Szmyd follows.

Polish dude is Marek Rutkiewicz. Chapeau to him.

Remind me again why they moved the race from September to August?

And to think. Lampre offered only a one year contract to someone who can win in the Tour of Poland.

How far behind are the 'Polo'ton?

Great stage, an exciting finish in foul conditions. My language skills have improved watching feeds in Flemish, Italian and French but Polish, well no way.

I think the Polish guy is Marek Rutkiewicz, who became infamous as a doperchez Cofidis.

Ah, I thought I'd heard the name before. It's not hard to forget. Hard to spell, yes...

And the Rabo guy was Weening not Ardila.

Ballan took that sprint very easily, though. The cynic in me would suggest that the other riders weren't trying as hard as they could have
