Made a few changes to the old dog: new Xero wheels, Exotic carbon seatpost and Conti SpeedKing Pro tyres. Upped the fork to 130mm of travel too.

Real nice, how are you finding the wheels? Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10

Seem fine! Quite stiff, lightish, well made hubs. Need to give them a good tonking though.0
-
Some e-mails for whs are in the pipeline then
Good to hear they work though, great value at £85Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
yum yum
Looks a bit more fun now you've upped the travel... what was it before? 100mm?
Really like that, change those pedals though your favourite mg1's would suit much better0 -
100 before, XC mode! Now a touch slacker, and more damage limitation.
Tyres are very narrow for 2.3.
Love those pedals, have bashed just about every rock on Wharncliffe! CRC do a mag version for 20 quid that weighs 440g.0 -
Definitely makes a difference.... was the one thing I wasn't sure of before..
Now it looks like it wants to be played with and chucked about
That 4th picture is awesome0 -
Hehe, the 4th is actually with just the wheels changed! 100mm fork, and tiogas!
It is very swift like that, and on the flats, twists, turns and ups, fantastic.0 -
Looks great, can you tell me how you rate the seatpost? Was considering getting one.0

nahhhhhh... more than 100mm there surely?!
BTW.... I don't know how to break this to you, but your plant.... its dead0 -
100mm solo air!
Yeah, the garden not looking so rosy.
Great thing is that all the bits fit directky on my Ruckus. So if want to really hoon about, is a 30 min swap job.0 -

Oops, I meant the 5th!0 -
Thats looks so nice mate. All black looks evil. Ive allways wanted to try a carbon hardtail, do you know how much it weighs?0
-
Looking good. New wheels and brakes going on mine next week I think
The XT wheelset is just a bit too flexy for me, swapping to Pro IIs + 32 Comp spokes + ZTR 355, then swapping the SLX brakes for a set of Formula Oro K18 I think, it's a shame they sold out of R1s or I'd have been sorely tempted. My bike shouldn't actually get any lighter with the changes, just feel a lot stiffer with any luck.
The Zaskars aren't amazingly light frames, there are aluminium frames about of the same weight, they're nice sturdy feeling beasts though. Mine's about 24lbs (23.2lbs without pedals) but I've made an effort to lighten it up, Truvativ carbon bars, F100 fork, XT M775 wheelset, Fast Trak LK tyres tubeless, Formula FX IBeam saddle, XT chainset. Nothing amazing, I'd rather it weighed more than flexed more!!0 -
Very nice 'Sonic 8)
Is that a Deore HT2 chainset? If so, what's it like? I see you can pick them up for about £50!0 -
It's a "Hone" chainset from last year Effectively an LX chainset but prettier. The Deore ones are fanatstic though, very solid.0
-
Ah i see. Cheers.
A mate is possibly doing a build and i'd spied the Deore HT2 going cheap but had no experience of them.0 -

Yeah, not the lightest for carbon, but then again isn't an out and out race frame and GT designed it for more hammer Perfect for what I wanted really, and 3.2lbs with headset cups not too bad! The changes have lopped well over a pound off, probably two, but will have to weigh again.
I like the look of the 2010 Rev Race which I may get in the future.0 -
Very Nice Sonic,

I have popped the coil back in for now. A lot plusher!0
-
Have to admit, I prefer coil a LOT more than air... for the exact same reason. Air just feels a bit notchy in comparison!0

A new Zaskar is starting to look abit tempting0

Wiggle have the remakes for 415 quid.0
