Whats going on?

England (& Wales) have 435 runs for the 1st innings! The tail enders have smacked the ball around, and even Monty avoided a duck this morning.

As usual the aussies think there going to win 5 - 0 (which they always say). Can't wait to see what England do bowling?

I won't even pretend to know all the rules, and all of the jargon. Just what is ''silly point'' I'll never know! But its nice to see the aussies suffering. I just hope that England have enough runns to aviod losing the 1st test and really put the cocky aussies under some pressure!

''Come on England.''

Yes you will, yes you will:

point - fielder about 90 degrees from the pitch on the offside (i.e., about in-line with the batsman's stumps or at about 3 o'clock. Normally stands about 15m from the bat

silly point - fielder on that line but much closer to the batsman, say 3m away.

great fun this morning wasn't it?

Standing that near to someone who's likely to hit a cricket ball very hard, I'd rename it ****ing stupid point.

    HOOOOOOWWWWWZZAAAAATTTTTTTT!!!!

    1 down. :D

Aussie bowlers didn't look up to much but no doubt they will still give us a run for our money in this series.

    Botbuilder,

Theres a long way to go. A couple of quick wickets and you never know. Bet you think your going to win 5 - 0 don't you?

Silly point! Yep - sounds a silly place to stand!

Umm both bowling attacks looked very thin - only standout bowler was Flintoff and that only really in his first spell.

I am very suprised that Swan got zero from the pitch - especially after the way Hauritz ripped it in the first innings for the English. Neither Flintoff or Broad looked in a good way in the 3rd session both seemed proppy which is not a good sign on what is a very placid pitch.

I think the English will be chasing leather for the next day maybe day and a session. Nine wickets to go on a docile pitch :?

No, actually. I reckon it's going to be close. 2-1 to either us or you guys.

The way we couldn't clean up your tail for 20 or so runs like we used to be abvle to is a big indictaion of how poor our bowling attack is. Hauritz is only a second-rate spinner. I think we should have played another specialist batsman or maybe even Stuart Clark (as our best swing bowler), and used Michael Clarke & someone else as part-time spinners.

298/1  I have to admit to being bemused by all the hype especially from the tabloids (which I read but but dont buy, principles you see  ) over the last few weeks. I turned down the offer of tickets for Lords as Im really not as hopeful as some of the "experts" in the media .

We have taken the new ball, lets hope this one has a bit of life about it.

Sorry boys the fact that England beat the WI at home is not great preparation for the ashes. Your team lacks self belief with only one shining light, Flintofff and he seems incapable of bowling more then one aggressive spell in an innings.

Pray for rain - lots of rain its your only hope.

Absolutely gripping stuff, that last few overs was test cricket/sport at it's very best.

    Magnificent.

Possibly the most exciting/tense draw possible in sport!

However, our bowling attack lacked any venom, sure the pitch didn't seem to do much for us, but I mean FFS the aussie bowlers got something from it and considering their bowling looks to be the weaker side of the team...

Looks like England cricket is in for a long summer.

P.S. Lords next, England haven't won there against the aussies since 1937

  • Eng 187 without loss.

    Meanwhile over at Trent Bridge,

    S Harmison 6 ovs, 5 maidens, 1 wicket, 1 run.

Should England go on and get plenty I think we could have done with the big man to spread panic. Fred one end and Grevious the other. They'll be dancing in the crease.

    Maybe next test.

Cook you f**king d1ckhead. Out lb to a ball that did nothing but go in a straight line. 196/1 Rev\'d Gatlin I agree , Harmison is in form and really should be there to put it up em.
