Make Armstrong do some work. He's a DOMESTIQUE for fooks sake.

Could Armstrong go for the win today? Is Canc more likely to attack?
    How's Cav looking?

You clearly are because Armstrong didn't go near the front at any time.

    Cav at a cruise.
    Lance's Astana?
40" gained on the road, minutes lost on the team bus.

ITV4's coverage stopped just inside the last km. Loaded a feed from cyclingfans just too late to see the finish.

he isnt supposed to have his teammates driving a split with his leader behind.

Uuuum....not put his two domis on the front and whip the group up to get everybody working......bar himself.
Sit on, do nothing and take any time gains, that way.

It's not that. It's the fact that Popo and Zubeldia were working hard at the pacemaking, and Lance was calling for a bigger effort, when their supposed team leader is stuck in the second group.

Astana had no intention of winning the stage. Their only objective was to take time from Contador.

The split was well away be the time the Astana duo did any work at all....

What sort of time gap could Astana get over Saxo Bank in the TTT? Anything over 40 seconds and Armstrong will be back in the yellow jersey.

I don't see this as being the end for Contador either btw, when they get to the mountains 19 seconds isn't going to seem like much and I can't see Armstrong or Cancellara holding him off.

I think that this was a good strategy for Astana for maximum PR coverage. Lance in yellow tomorrow but it didn't help any other GC contenders. At least that's how I would spin it to Contador if I had to explain!

But why were they working at all? Why weren't they dropped back to help Contador?

Yeah - but now watch Contador sandbag the TTT tomoro - just to get his own back on Lance! LOL

That could happen, but then it wouldn't do his chances any good would it?

BTW, it ain't just Contador. Nobody has mentioned Levi yet... is this the same as the "support" Levi was getting in the Giro?

And don't forget that Astana still have to beat High Road in the TTT to take yellow. High Road may be 'tired' from being on the front the last 2 days - but they also won the TTT at the Giro - so don't count them out just yet.

Beaucoup Green Jersey points. Yesterday some of the sprinters were blocked by the crash, today they lost in the split.
