I dunno. Targetted testing of Di Luca based on bio passport data. Astana getting a lot of attention from testers in the tour. Everyone assumes its a vendetta against Armstrong, but there's another guy on the team who hasn't broken sweat yet who is kindasorta associated with Puerto who Dave B doesn't like.....

    2 + 2 = 5 (or more).

What is wrong or the problem with Vinokourov? Other than getting banned what else did he do?

Q1: p 39, three up from the bottom.

Q2: he's a doper, plus he's a wildcard rider. Contador isn't a team player due to youth, arrogance, I dunno. Vino isn't a team player because he's a selfish a-hole. AND when he climbs out of the saddle, he looks like a circus chimp who's been let loose.

    I'm not a fan.

I think today was a bit smelly all round, the way that LA suddenly breaks out of nowhere and Frank, Andy and Bertie put further minutes after a week of hard core climbing

I think that the 2008 TTs aren't necessarily a good representation of how the Schlecks can timetrial, remember that Andy was ordered to go slow so that Sastre would have something to aim at on the road for the final TT

it;s a shame but I don't think Wiggins will be back on the podium, I don't think the TT is long enough for Frank to lose enough time (esp with those fuentes training plans that he never used) and for Brad to overtake him and beat a well prepared lance

the TT is 40km so not really decisive enough... oh for the days of Jean-Marie Leblanc putting together a 200 mile TT for his holiness Indurain...

I have to grudgingly admit that Lance played a tactical blinder, he slowed Wiggo down enough for AC and AK to take plenty of time out of him, then simply put the hammer down and left the poor chap floundering. Perhaps Wiggo's lack of experience at the sharp end of a GC took it's toll, perhaps he's in awe of the texan, or perhaps there is something far far smellier going on, but drugs don't improve your tactics, chapeau Lance.

<mutter mutter fuentes mutter ferrari mutter hgh mutter>

BTW is retrospective testing allowed these days? Could we see people DQed months after the race when new tests have been developed?

I normally hold onto all my grammatic pedantry (well, most) but it is now disturbing me a little that this thread title has a typo.

Can you please change it? (Is it even possible?)

    Thank you x

I couldn't see an answer to this on the bottom of pg 39. He protested that Cav changed his line and intentionally blocked him by the barriers. Sprinters aren't supposed to change their lines to physically block each other, they are supposed to ride in a straight line.
Cavendish says he did ride in a straight line, it was just that the road was on a corner and the barrier wasn't straight. Others say Cav moved half way across the driving lane and was looking at Hushovd just before he did this, so knew he's be blocking him. It seemed fine to me, but I know nothing on that front. I've read that other sprinters didn't have a problem with what Cavendish did though.
What did Hincipie (sp?) do during a stage that provoked critisim.
It's, apparently, the way he peels off the lead-out train and apparently, doesn't peel off far enough across the road and so 'gets in the way' a bit. Apparently.

They had, but there has been a lot of too-and-fro winding up between Garmin and Columbia all season, and during the Tour. Nobody is quite sure how serious it really is.

The French will most probably do retrospective testing if they think they might find something. The Italians really don't like the idea at all, but this Di Luca thing could have big implications for them. The Spanish, do they even do testing?

Time for predictions for the winner of today's TT then:

    Cancellara
    Wiggo
    AC
    LA
    Kloden
    Zabriski
Nibali (doesn't have my vote, but just throwing it out there)?

    My top 5:

    Cancellara
    AC
    Wiggo
    Kloden
    LA
    FCN 2-4.

Don't know much about the TT pedigree of the contenders.

However in previous tour TTs it always seems that a main contender will have a bad day at the office and another will have the ride of their lives.

    Bad Day - Contador
Ride of their life - A Schlek & L Armstrong

    EDIT to add

I'll be watching today, ain't sick leave just dandy

Expecting big rides from Wiggo and LA today.

    +1!

They aren't going to challenege the goats (Shelck's and Contador) on the next stage so no point holding back.

Contador is proving that he is more winner than team player so best bet is to force him to ride flat out today than allow him to hold back and ride to his strengths on the next stage. If Contador has to put in record breaking speeds in today's TT he may not have enough left for tomorrow and he won't be getting much team support because of his little stunt yesterday.

    Simples:

Gain as much time here now. Force the others to ride nuts out, so that everyone is tired for next stage and takes it easy - maybe too easy.

(I'm telling you I should be a team manager or something... )

    Dear Linsen,

Though I only exist online to impress you, imagine for a second that I have no idea what you are talking about as, unless I'm writing formally, my grasp of grammer is frankly terrible.

However, if your request is to include the word 'Le'. My ommision of this word isn't because I'm rubbish, but in actual fact, work related. Where I work in the communications/press office no less, the managers encourage us not to use the word 'the' as much as possible. When I type the word 'le' is 'the' in my head and so I near instinctively leave it out when typing from a work computer.

Incidentally the pedantry that happens in my office is beyond anything seen on this site and arguably the collective efforts of the entire Internet. Have you ever seen two grown forty year old men argue and swear at each other over the use of the word 'holistic'?

In anycase, and because its you, once you have confirmed what you would like changed I shall shake the very foundations of this website to make it so.

    Yours forever

What am i going to do between now and ITV4 live coverage at 2pm.

Suppose I could watch yesterday's highlight show again at 1pm

Until then it'll have to be BBC Live Text

Bear in mind that Damien Hirst has about 30 or 40 people who work for him, gives you a clue that it won't have been Mr Hirst himself who painted it...... Branding Ahoy on the good ship NikeStrong !!!

    Which stunt?

Contador attacked as the yellow jersey has every right to do. His own version is that he checked that Kloden was OK first.

He then attacked with the aim of putting distance between himself and the Schleck tag team, expecting to drop them and Kloden to latch onto the Schleck's back wheels.

    From the Astana site
It has been a pity. I had spoken with Johan Bruyneel, who told me that I should speak with Andreas Kloden. I did and he told me that I should attack if I wanted. I was thinking of going ahead alone or with Andy, but in the end the only one that was behind was Andreas. Because of this I decided to stop, to see if he was coming back, but he could not and lost a lot of time

His real mistake was stopping for Kloden (unless he knew he was just burning energy trying to break the Schlecks)
