Just thought I'd point out a great Irish performance
I just hope he has enough left in the tank for a win!

DDD Sky may have a licence to print money with British football but that does not mean that they will splash it at cycling. News International has investors expecting high returns. It may look like a "champagne" operation but it will be run on "beer money", at least until a clear return is achieved.
G66 I did watch the interview and it was a strong reaction but when contracts are being negotiated it is a world of shadows. He may have other agenda than just that chat with a reporter. Who knows? :?The older I get the faster I was0 -

Mind you, I'd love to see a French, Spanish (or other nationality) team manager interviewed about Wiggins just now. Rumours are abroad, literally.
So lets suspend disbelief just now. The only time I haven't was when Floyd crossed the line and nearly started punching people.0 -

I know you're all very excited about Bradley Wiggins, and quite right too, he's doing exceptionally well.
We must agree however that in our excitement we won't lose sight of one fundamental point.
Podium is not a verb.
Coriander only pops in and out of this forum occasionally. Using podium as a verb may scare her away for ever.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

Having sat through last summer's 'to medal', please, please don't do 'to podium' to me. Please...

From the highlights, you get the feeling Wiggo had a lot more in the tank and that he's saving it for tomorrow and the TT. Come on, Wiggo. 8)
Menchov 27 mins down in 42nd. This is this year's Giro winner. Now, there's peaking too early, but...FCN 2-4.

When I said Wiggins would finish in the top 10, CJCP posted a laughing emoticon.....
I had a feeling Wiggins was going to be awesome. Having read up on him in Cycling weekly, it made me just feel there was something special about him this year...
But he has been shockingly awesome, every interview you just get the feeling that there is a lot more in the tank and he is holding back because he hasn't got anything to compare he's ability to so he's thinking if I go full power everyone else (who has previously been faster than him) will also go full power and drop him. I really want him to go balls out! I don't think many would keep up.
(I hope he isn't the compulsory Le Tour scandal).Food Chain number = 4
A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -
If he gets through tomorrow unscathed, he can go balls out in the time trial and then on Ventoux. He definitely looks like he's trying to keep something in reserve, so could be an exciting end to the tour. Lance to get whupped tomorrow0

This year and last Cadel Evans has crossed the line a good few times and nearly started punching people.
Given his trials and tribulations, I think we can all be pretty sure that Cadel hasn't been anywhere near a performing-enhancing substance (and if he has, he should ask for his money back)

OH and I reckon Contador will win, Cancellara 2nd, Evans 3rd and Armstrong 5th or 7th.... you read it here first. Edit: Wiggins either 4th or 6th (the future isn't clear on Armstong and Wiggins they've got the best story/journey to tell in this tour)
I think it was Roche who suggested Spartacus (aka Cancellara) as an outside bet for the GC, but I don't see him hanging on in the mountains.
Very interesting to see Wiggins do so well in a TT with a hilly first half. He's lost weight this season and has supposedly been climbing well. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes for a breakaway like he did in 2007, possibly on a mountain stage this tie though.
I'll be surprised if Armstrong makes top 10.Food Chain number = 4

Where's (a) the laughing emoticon, and (b) the specific relationship between the emoticon and the prediction about Wiggins?FCN 2-4.

Jens Voigt got away with "only" fractured cheekbone & concussion: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/voigt-i ... ific-crash
Last update on ITV4 programme & podcast was that he'd been transferred to Grenoble for MRI on suspected spinal damage, so under the circumstances this is rather good news.Specialized Allez

Just loving tdf. Wiggo is awsome!

Save that advice for Boonen
It was the bumps that did for him, knoocked his left hand off the bars and from there on he was a passenger. Saw the clip on ITV4 and they cut off before the nasty slide started, glad they did, wish I hadn't followed some of the links over in Road :?
Speedy recovery Jens, Saxo will miss you over the next few days."Impressive break"

It seems from the slo-mo that his left hand comes off the bars after a bump in the road and then the wheel definitely slides on the line. Was the paint melting in the heat?FCN 2-4.

It looked to me like he first was moving his left hand to the drop, then second, the bump in the road throws him up and forwards, with the result that he misses the drop with his left hand.
Then third, just as he has weight on the right side of his bars only, he hits the white line. He's pushing from the right, so the front wheel skids to his left relative to his direction of travel (in fact skidding along the white instead of crossing it) and he's down.
Really unlucky confluence of events.0
