If N is the ideal number of bikes I have N-1.

2 complete bikes - a Giant VT or general all-round use and an Orange SubZero for trail centre use and general hooning.

But I also have a large shed stuffed with bike bits that I could probably build two more of I thought about it. Oh and my mum's old Claude Butler Dalesman touring bike (a proper Claude, built by the man himself about 50 years ago!!)

A meagre 3, had I more money I'd also have a hardcore hardtail thing and a road bike I'd imagine:

2008 Commencal Meta - general trail bike
2008 Zaskar Team - speedy XC bike
2003 Stumpjumper HT - faithful hardtail, used for commuting atm

I've also bought and sold 2 others in the last 2 years.

I generally keep blowing money on my current bikes, rather than spending it on new bikes, to be honest I think I waste more money with this upgrading lark.

You always need more bikes (mine listed below)

For me I fancy a new full sus & need a decent carbon road bike, or was that a TT bike.............. I honestly keep looking at my Westfield in the garage & start planning which bikes I am going for next!

I got away with this one by suggesting one of the bikes I'd built was for the misses
to get to work and back on. This worked a treat a she got into buying bits to pimp it etc
she then bought a nice spesh MTB so she's catching me!!!

    Currently
1 x planet x pro carbon SL road bike
1 x Felt F80 frame (soon to be winter trainer)
2 x hardtails (one his and one hers)
    1 x commute bike (kaffenback)
1 x steel frame for respray and single speed pimping

I have more of an upgrade bug now - she's not happy my new road wheels
    cost more than her MTB

I've just got the one, a 2009 Stumpjumper Elite. I don't really feel I need another mountain bike as the Stumpy ticks all the boxes, but I'm tempted to get a commuting bike.

As Mr Toast said, he's got the 3 bikes, but he failed to mention the additional BeOne Hornet frame that lives in the shed (the four bikes live in the house), not to mention the vast number of tyres that seem to be breeding in there...

If anyone has trouble justifying the number of different bikes to a non-biking missus, just use the shoe and argument. It never fails!

Thanks Mrs Toast! Your like our own under-cover secret agent!

Next time my girlfirend tells me off - I'll have a defense lined up! Sort of... She's in her final year of studying medicine next year, and is WELL smart. Both ways - common sence AND book smart.

So I never win any dis-agreements. EVER

To be honest, I don't really have a problem with her, come to think about it! She rides a bit too (on road and commuting), so she can see where I'm coming from.

However, you are now the Bike Radar secret-undercover agent for us men, to use in times of crisis with our better (looking) halves!

    Two bikes.

Just traded the Malt 1 for the Cannondale Prophet 2 (the only bike I need, love it)

Also have an old school 1989 Muddy Fox Courier Comp (the neon green one) totally standard but for a new back tyre and seat. Unfortunatly the rear wheel disc has gone missing, but its still my old school machine. A bit battered but nothing a bit of TLC wouldnt fix.

Can I have a hardcore hardtail please? I need a bike that I can throw off meaty drops, play on the DH course at Cannock, 4X course in Leamington and still ride trails at the weekend. You have lots of shoes.
