Took the plunge today and bought a pair from Condor (clothing man in there knows his stuff)- what a revelation!! Perhaps the Mille next time, 'cause I can certainly never go back.

The fit and comfort is superior to anything I've experienced before; every bit of fabric seems to be doing its job. Cant wait to test them on a 70 miler tomorrow. Also the presentation, chamois creme and washbag/detergent that come with these shorts is really quite special.

I only regret not getting a pair earlier!

Yes, I only went in for an innertube and some bar tape!

It's almost twice the amount I've paid out in the past but the quality is waaaay above; hard to quantify but I reckon 4x the quality. Of course, you don't have to stick around on this forum long before hearing people repeating the kind of praise in my original post- I couldn't ignore it any longer. Not to mention the tales of Assos excellent after sales service.....you WILL know GavH :D

That said, I've only given them a couple of miles thus far- we'll see tomorrow.

I just got a pair of Mille shorts, had the Unos but they had to be cut off me in hospital. Despite being pumped full of morphine I was still begging them to try and take them off without damaging them!

The Milles are better but not by the same marging by which the Unos are better than everything else...

That said, I tried a pair of Rapha shorts on too yesterday, very nice with the most comfortable shoulder straps ever invented by man. The material is so lovely and soft and smoooooooooth. I just didn't like the length of them, they came down to just above the knee a la classic shorts.

got myself some unos a couple of weeks ago [£89, Brian Rourke Cycles ] and have to echo everyones comments!

Only downside for me is that they are cut abit shorter than others and with my long legs I could do with abit more material! :)

    Excellent price - I paid £109.99 today :!:

Still, spur of the moment purchase really and I don't mind my money going to Condor. Conversely, I usually have problems with the legs being a bit too long so the Assos are just right for me.

Shame about those nasty nurses cutting off the Assos ND- got the new pair insured?

Simon, don't forget you got to try them on in the shop etc and have the convenience of bobbing in there if there is a problem. I know Brian Rourke is a very reputable company and I'm sure their returns are sorted first class but I do like actually buying stuff from a shop...

Be careful if you roll the bottoms up to get some sun on your legs. You don't want them to say ASS!

I can't tell the difference between the Mille and the Uno. Likewise on the old S2, I had a FI and Uno and both were great.

The massive downside I'm having with Assos is (according to them), certain sweat destroys the fabric. Milles lasted 9 months and about 2000km before becoming see through. In fairness to Assos they've sent me a new pair (but won't in the future). If they last less than a year for me at that price I'll need an alternative.

Anyone tried the 2XU Elite bibs?

Do a long ride. Then you'll see what the fuss is about.

Just ordered some of the £90 Unos. Already got some Milles.

I got a pair recently, from Parker International... Not had a chance to use them yet, as they arrived just before I went back to work!
I was impressed by the whole package, and they did fit really well and felt very comfortable, too.
I've got short legs, so no problem with the leg length!!!
The acid test will be when I get home, again. If they're as good as they appear, I wouldn't think twice about getting some more...

For me that`s a very long ride, but that`s why I bought them I intend to do even longer rides.

Whats the difference between the Assos T FI.Mille, T FI Mille S5 and the T FI.Uno S5? I am about to buy a pair and I notice the at the Uno sold by Wiggle dont have the loud logo. Is that last years model?

The S5 suffix is the new chamois type, the Mille has a better chamois than the Uno and better compression (that said, the Uno is blody good).

The logo is just, well, a logo, they are the same shorts. Assos only do new 'model' shorts when they have a significant development, they occasionally do limited edition colours though.

Hi all, I'm new to the cycling thing and do 10 miles 3 days a week with a 30 mile run at the weekend. From this thread is it safe to say that I wouldn't benefit from Assos gear?

I thought it was a saddle issue with me (Bontrager Race on my Trek 1.9) but since changing to some Endura Xtract my a$$ is slightly more comfortable but I have also been looking at the Altura Progel shorts as I have heard from friends that these are also very good.

Hmmm, it may still be an issue with the saddle, not many people at all get on with those Bontrager ones.

I would wait until you are doing longer rides before taking the plunge however, if you did take the plunge it would probably encourage you to go out for longer!

    Hi Guys,
Slightly off topic, but I'm in the market for some Assos bib shorts. The problem is I live in HK and although there is one dealer here all of the sizes they had when I looked were too small and the price too high compared with the UK. The obvious solution is to buy online but I have no idea about sizing. I'm not exactly skinny (82kg) and I'm 6'1'' (about 185cm). Waist is 36". Is there anyone with similar build who's got a pair and can recommend the best size based on knowledge of cut?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve.

Re the sizing. I am a similar size to you and I use XLG (second largest size) for short/tights and XL (3rd largest size) for jerseys/jackets.
