It is silly, isn't it. They might as well carry him in a Sedan chair:

Wonder how Horner will go on a hilly 60km TT?

Strong finish by Menchov. Di Luca second, Lovkvist third. Sastre, Leipheimer, Horner and Basso lost a few seconds.

    Di Luca moves into pink.

You'll be pleased to know AFX, I gave cyclingnews a "WTF?" email and they've been much more compliant with their updates since about 5 minutes after I sent it.

Was it Calvjones who said look out for Kessiakoff? He was 10th... only just out of the PTP points.

Oops, my mistake, it was actually campagchris. He picked Pellizotti but said watch out for Kessiakoff... still, 0 points either way you look at it

We know that Lance Armstrong hasn't had the ideal preparation for the Giro. Is this the explanation for his poor performance or is he just too old now?

If the former can we expect this ride in the Giro to beat him into shape enough for a much improved performance in the tour?

Are the time bonuses 20, 12 and 8 for the top three?

    Yes.

Thanks. They're helping Di Luca build up a handy lead over the likes of Basso and Leipheimer. 43 seconds over Levi and 1.16 over Basso now.

I don't think it'll be enough come the TTs though.....

He's put himself in a good position without actually doing too much. 61 km time trial coming up though.

Neither do I. Di Luca would do very well to limit his losses to Levi in the big 60km TT to around a minute or so.

Still, there are a couple more mountain top finishes to come for him to pull out more of an advantage, albeit after the the big TT.

I think Di Luca will be lucky if he only loses 3 mins to Levi in the long TT

Surely that's going to be the last stage where the likes of Brajkovic and Navarro have to babysit Armstrong.

I fancied Brajkovic for a decent position in GC but it's being ruined by the ''great one'' so far.

The Killer, climbing well and with all those hilly classic stages lined up for later on?
It's going to be a really tough race to control, in injun territory, with only half a team.
Menchov and Sastre become lighter coloured horses.

Sorry, not allowed to comment upon the others, more than I have above.

So is Wiggins the secret weapon Team Sky have lined up to win the Tour in the next 5 years?

Some impressive scalps today - he's looking thinner to me this year.
