Thank you all so much for todays ride.
It was a huge confidence boost, and having carried on to do 6 laps, I almost did a 7th until I realised that with Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday I'm supposed to be resting.

Excellent fun today! What a day for my first visit to the park :-D
I'd like to say a big thanks to Jen J for helping me get there and Biondino for getting me back to somewhere I recognized! Just tipped over 50 miles for the day with the rides there and back and 4 laps in the park!
I'd also like to say thanks to JA and JG for being such great motivators! I'm not sure if I'd managed to get round quite as quickly if I'd be going it alone, still some room for improvement tho as my GPS'd lap came in @ 20:38, I'm rather happy with that considering it was my first and certainly won't be my last time there!
I have realized tho from today's ride that I still have a lot of work to do on my climbing and descending. I think the latter is more a confidence thing as I'm just a bit wary of the handling and keep thinking the bike isn't headed where I want it to!
My lap is here:

As RM said it's nice to put some more names to faces and finally meet DDD's Kharma, albeit for a brief period - looks very nice!!0 -
Was a good couple of hours in the park
As I suspected I have worked extensively on the tan lines on my arms. If only the colour was, er, tan
BJUK, I suspect your third lap was possibly sub-20 mins. Looking at the data I uploaded mine was 18:30 (damn cars slowing the descent between richmond and ham) and you guys rolled into the cafe only about a minute behind me.
Biondino, that fixie is lovely and the shirt was a work of art
Good work Jen. Good to see you after so long 'away'.0 -

I really need to get a 705.........I think on my third lap I forgot to reset the cycle comp as I left the cafe and didn't do the reset until the roundabout by Rohampton Gate, I think it came in at around 19:30 and I was then adding 30 seconds or so on.
Still had excellent fun tho, it was amazing watching you just disappear up the hills and have to agree that the cars do get in the way sometimes but it's so satisfying passing them :-D0 -
The zipvit offer we talked about is here:

Edit: Love the choc-orange protein bars. Didn't particularly like the aftertaste of the choc recovery drink but have subsequently got some vanilla in their BOGOF offer, which is much nicer (IMO)0 -

Don't usually bother overtaking the cars unless they are going reeeelly slow, as some do.0 -
Indeed he was rather rapid! I could get ahead briefly but he'd just come casually cruising past a bit further ahead! Having said that you did a rather good disappearing act on the third lap - one minute you where behind us, then ahead, then we lost sight of you :shock:0

Knowledge is power and all that. You need to know where you can push and where to conserve As discussed at the cafe, I use the flatter section of dark hill as a launch pad where others relax. That third lap was mostly nice: 25+ on the first false flat of sawyers, having to slow down due to cars. Maintained 21+ to the crest. Happy with that but was a bit north of 80%0

That waas such good fun! Really glad to get 4 laps done on the fixie - I didn't hve to stop on any of the hills once again which was a relief. I managed a 22-minute lap, which was better than anticipated considering the lack of top-end speed on Bob Jackson.
I then went and dropped off my Trek with a mate who's borrowing it, so got 43 laps for the day. I just hope LiT didn't get much riding done this weekend so I can stay ahead of ehr in the SC stats list...
Lovely to see the Kharma!0 -

Well done for 4 laps on the fixie though! I'll be there tuesday evening, I think...0 -

I should apologise for turning up late, I was generally running late for everything....
After a fettle with the stem height I went on to do 2.5 more laps before having to rush home, other arrangements I was late for. Would have liked to have done more.
Will be there most likely tomorrow, (maybe) Friday and Sunday.
Gonna keep going 2 days in the week and one day on the weekend.
Thanks to everyone for their kind words about Karen (my Kharma), she appreciates it.Food Chain number = 4
